Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Blasts homer in win
Wilson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Rangers.
Wilson's seventh-inning homer was his first of the year, and it was a crucial one. He gave the Athletics their last runs of the game, which would ultimately be needed when the Rangers got three runs back in the eighth. The shortstop is off to a modest start to the season, hitting .254 with a .602 OPS, seven RBI, six runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases over 17 contests. He had 13 long balls over 125 games and hit .311 with a .799 OPS in 2025, though power is never likely to be his calling card.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Getting first day off
Wilson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Wilson will head to the bench for the first time in 2026 after starting the first 14 games. Darell Hernaiz will take over at shortstop and bat eighth in the series finale versus the Mets.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Drives in pair of runs
Wilson went 2-for-4 with a two-run double during Tuesday's 5-2 win over Atlanta.
Wilson's ground-rule double in the second inning brought Andy Ibanez and Lawrence Butler home to give the Athletics a 3-1 lead. Wilson has logged two hits in two of his last three outings, though he's gone 0-for-13 with four strikeouts in his other three appearances of the regular season. He's looking to build off a strong 2025 campaign in which he slashed .311/.355/.444 with five steals (on seven attempts), 13 home runs and 63 RBI across 523 plate appearances.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Tallies RBI in spring win
Wilson went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's Cactus League win over the Angels.
Wilson produced early in Monday's contest, driving an opposite-field single to score Brent Rooker and extend the Athletics' lead in the first inning. It's been a forgettable spring for the young shortstop, as he's slashing .229/.282/.343 in 14 appearances, though the sample size is too small to raise significant concern. Coming off a stellar rookie campaign in which he slashed .311/.355/.444 with 26 doubles, 13 home runs, 63 RBI and 62 runs scored across 125 games, Wilson may see some natural regression in 2026 but should still be considered one of the best contact hitters in the game.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Signs seven-year, $70M extension
The Athletics signed Wilson to a seven-year, $70 million contract extension Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The deal includes a club option for 2033.
Wilson finished runner-up to teammate Nick Kurtz in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2025 after slashing .311/.355/.444 with 13 home runs, five stolen bases and a 27:39 BB:K over 125 contests in his first full major-league season. The 23-year-old's upside is capped due to his lack of power and mediocre defense at shortstop, but Wilson has some of the best contact skills in the game. It's a contract that should turn out to be very team-friendly as long as he stays healthy.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Working on bulking up
Wilson said earlier this month that adding strength has "been the main focus for the last couple of offseasons now," Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Wilson showed a little more pop than expected in 2025, slugging 13 home runs. Power is considered the weakest part of his offensive game, though, so he's working on adding a little bulk this winter. Still, fantasy managers should consider it a bonus if they get double-digit home runs out of Wilson again in 2026, as he is most likely to provide an elite batting average but not much else.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Idle for season finale
Wilson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Unless he's called upon off the bench as a pinch hitter, Wilson will wrap up his first full big-league season with a .311/.355/.444 slash line, 13 home runs, five stolen bases, 63 RBI and 62 runs in 125 games. Max Muncy will step in for Wilson at shortstop in the finale.

Wilson went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Astros.
This was the shortstop's sixth multi-hit effort in September. He's batting .343 (24-for-70) this month while adding seven extra-base hits but just five RBI over 19 contests. Wilson has maintained a steady presence in the lineup, slashing .318/.362/.453 with 13 home runs, 25 doubles, 60 RBI, 62 runs scored and five stolen bases through 121 games overall.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Three more hits in loss
Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 6-0 loss to the Red Sox.
Wilson has logged four games of three hits over his last nine contests. He was responsible for the Athletics' lone extra-base hit Tuesday, which was his first since a Sept. 1 double versus the Cardinals. The shortstop has a .319/.360/.451 slash line with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 55 runs scored, five stolen bases and 21 doubles over 110 contests. While he doesn't walk a lot with a 5.2 percent walk rate, his 7.6 percent strikeout rate has enabled him to remain effective throughout the season through pure contact skills.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Three-hit effort in blowout win
Wilson went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 17-4 win over the Angels.
This was the shortstop's third three-hit effort over his last five games. He remains excellent at the plate since returning from a broken forearm, having gone 19-for-52 (.365) over his last 13 games. Wilson has racked up five extra-base hits and 11 RBI in that span as well, though all of his hits Saturday were singles. The 23-year-old is up to a .318/.360/.451 slash line with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 55 runs scored, 20 doubles and five stolen bases through 107 contests this season.

He's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with two homers and eight RBI over five games since returning from a forearm fracture. Wilson has shown no rust, and the shortstop now has a .311/.353/.450 slash line with 12 homers, 53 RBI, 50 runs scored and five stolen bases over 99 contests this season.

Wilson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 11-4 loss to the Mariners.
Wilson looked sharp at the plate after missing four weeks due to a forearm fracture, going 5-for-12 with two extra-base hits and three RBI over three games against the Mariners this weekend. The shortstop has reclaimed his starting role and is likely to stay there as long as he remains healthy. He's up to 11 homers, 48 RBI, 49 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .315/.356/.449 slash line over 97 contests this season.
