Marlins' Griffin Conine: Slated for surgery
Conine will undergo a left hamstring tendon excision next week, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Conine suffered a left hamstring strain during Thursday's game against Cincinnati and has now decided to go under the knife to treat the problem. He's expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks following the procedure, setting him up for a return to Miami's lineup in late May or early June.

Marlins' Griffin Conine: Officially sent to injured list
The Marlins placed Conine on the 10-day injured list Friday with a torn left hamstring.
Conine was forced from Thursday's series finale against the Reds when he was injured trying to make a diving grab in the outfield. The severity of Conine's tear isn't yet known, but he's likely looking at an absence that extends beyond the 10 days. Deyvison De Los Santos has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Conine was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Reds after injuring his left hamstring on a diving attempt in the outfield. Conine was removed from Thursday's game versus the Reds in the top of the sixth inning with left hamstring discomfort, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Conine attempted a diving catch in left field and then got up grabbing the back of his leg before walking off with the Marlins' trainer. He was hitless in two plate appearances before exiting. Miami should have more information on Conine's injury after the game, but he could be headed for the injured list.

Conine went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
Batting third and getting the start in right field, Conine switched places with Christopher Morel at first base to begin the sixth inning. Conine's third-inning long ball off Andre Pallante was his first of the spring, and he's looked good at the plate in Grapefruit League action, batting .278 (5-for-18) with a 6:6 BB:K. Morel remains the favorite to start at first base for the Marlins, but if he isn't able to handle the position defensively or struggles at the plate -- he's batting only .190 (4-for-21) with a 1:7 BB:K in eight spring appearances, after stumbling to a .651 OPS the last two seasons -- Conine may be the next man up.

Conine has not played anywhere other than the corner-outfield spots in pro ball, but the Marlins plan to give him a test run at first base. The position is wide open, so Conine could even start there if he adapts well to first base. Conine missed most of the 2025 season following surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder, but he returned late in the year and enters the offseason healthy.

Conine underwent surgery back in late April to repair a dislocated left shoulder, but he's managed to work his way back to participate in the final week of the regular season. The 28-year-old looked sharp during a nine-game rehab stint with Triple-A Jacksonville, slashing .292/.514/.583 with two home runs and an 11:9 BB:K. The left-handed-hitting Conine should see some playing time versus righties in the final week, though the Marlins are tentatively scheduled to face four lefties in their six games.

Manager Clayton McCullough said that the Marlins were set to decide Sunday whether Conine (shoulder) would be activated from the 60-day injured list for the final week of the regular season, MLB.com reports.
McCullough didn't tip his hand regarding the Marlins' plans for Conine, but the 28-year-old did his best during his recent minor-league rehab assignment to demonstrate that he had made a full recovery from the surgery he required in late April to address a dislocated left shoulder. Over nine games at Triple-A Jacksonville, Conine slashed .292/.514/.583 with two home runs and an 11:9 BB:K. He saw three starts in left field, three in right field and three as a designated hitter during his rehab assignment.

Marlins' Griffin Conine: Ready for rehab assignment
Conine (shoulder) is expected to join one of the Marlins' affiliates later this week to begin a rehab assignment, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
After undergoing surgery April 29 to address a dislocated left shoulder, Conine was presumed to be shut down for the season, but he's apparently progressed more rapidly than expected and is on the cusp of being cleared for game action. Given how much time he's missed, Conine is expected to need at least a week's worth of at-bats in the minors to find his swing and get comfortable playing the outfield again before the Marlins bring him back from the injured list. Before getting shut down with the shoulder injury, Conine had gotten off to a solid start to the season for Miami, slashing .281/.352/.438 with one home run and seven RBI over 20 games.

Conine drove in a two-run double in the sixth inning, but he appeared to injure his left arm while sliding into second base. He looked to be in serious pain after the slide and a trainer was holding his left arm while he walked off the field.
