Pirates' Travis Swaggerty: Shelved again at Triple-A
Triple-A Indianapolis has placed Swaggerty on its 7-day injured list Friday due to an unspecified issue.

Pirates' Travis Swaggerty: Pushing for Opening Day roster
Swaggerty has gone 5-for-15 with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored across nine Grapefruit League games.
Swaggerty has fallen from his status as one of Pittsburgh's top prospects, in large part due to a serious shoulder injury that required surgery in 2021. Now 25, he's seemingly fighting for his future with the club and has made a strong impression this spring in a very limited sample. Swaggerty is competing against a number of other prospects in Pittsburgh's outfield, so he still may face an uphill battle to break camp with the big-league team.

He'll head back to the minors to help make room on the active roster for Canaan Smith-Njigba and Hoy Park. In spite of Swaggerty's lackluster performance during his first taste of major-league action, he remains one of the Pirates' top prospects and will likely be back in the big leagues at some point.

Pirates' Travis Swaggerty: Hitless in debut
Swaggerty went 0-for-3 Tuesday against the Tigers.
Swaggerty was called up to Pittsburgh on Sunday, but he drew the first start of his career in center field while hitting ninth. The Pirates are auditioning several prospects -- particularly in the outfield -- so Swaggerty will likely have to hit to maintain a significant role, though it was a positive that he was in the lineup despite lefty Tarik Skubal taking the mound Tuesday.

Swaggerty hit .338/.403/.492 across 65 at-bats in May with Triple-A Indianapolis.
Swaggerty had a miserable start to the season and was placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion May 4. However, he's turned things around since while primarily playing in center field -- an indication that he is fully past a shoulder injury that spoiled his 2021 campaign. The Pirates have been aggressive in promoting prospects to the majors of late, so Swaggerty's big-league debut may not be far off.

Swaggerty has started four games in center field for Triple-A Indianapolis early in the 2022 season.
Swaggerty began the season serving exclusively as the designated hitter as he continued to recover from shoulder surgery.
