As anticipated, Chalmers' second stint with the Heat proved to be short-lived, as Miami didn't have a need for guard depth with several players expected to return from the COVID-19 health and safety protocols prior to the team's next game Wednesday in Atlanta. Chalmers is signing with the G League's Grand Rapids Gold and will play in the upcoming G League showcase Dec. 19-22, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The 35-year-old last saw NBA minutes during the 2017-18 season with the Grizzlies, where he averaged 7.7 points, 3.0 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 21.5 minutes. Since then, he's been playing overseas. Most recently, he's been in Greece averaging 9.8 points, 2.3 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 21.8 minutes.
