Top Goran Dragic News

  • Raptors' Goran Dragic: Still on personal leave

Dragic (personal) remains out for Monday's game in Miami, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.

The Raptors haven't commented on Dragic's situation since he left the team Dec. 26 to tend to a personal matter, but he's most likely played his last game with Toronto. The veteran guard hadn't appeared in any games since Nov. 13 and wasn't on track to join the rotation at any point in the near future. If Dragic does elect to resume playing this season, Toronto will presumably waive him and allow him to find an opportunity elsewhere.

  • Raptors' Goran Dragic: Return date uncertain

Dragic (personal) remained away from the team during Sunday's 144-99 loss to the Cavaliers and is without a timeline to rejoin the Raptors, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports.

Dragic had been part of Toronto's rotation for only five of the team's first 21 games before leaving the club to tend to personal affairs. Toronto could certainly use him at the moment after the team was without 11 other players Sunday, 10 of whom are in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. However, the club has provided no indication that Dragic is close to a return, and at this point, it wouldn't be surprising if he's played his last game with the Raptors.

  • Raptors' Goran Dragic: Steps away from team

Raptors general manager Bobby Webster announced Sunday that Dragic is out indefinitely after leaving the team to tend to an unspecified personal matter, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Since being acquired from the Heat in August as part of the sign-and-trade deal that sent Kyle Lowry to Miami, Dragic has struggled to carve out a role with the Raptors. He started in the Raptors' season opener before moving to the bench, but he was a fixture on the second unit for only three contests before falling out of the rotation entirely. Lowry has seen the court just once in the Raptors' past 17 games, so his absence shouldn't affect how head coach Nick Nurse divvies up the minutes among the team's guards. Given his lack of a role, Dragic could be headed for a buyout at some point later this season if and when he rejoins the Raptors.

  • Raptors' Goran Dragic: Picks up spot start

Dragic will start Saturday against the Pistons, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.

With Fred VanVleet (groin) out, Dragic will make his first appearance since Oct. 25. It's unclear what his workload will be since he had completely exited the rotation.
