Coach Jordi Fernandez had previously said he'd like Claxton to play in at least one preseason game, and the big man's final chance will come Friday versus Toronto. Claxton's hamstring has been reported as minor, but it'd still be encouraging to see him get at least some work in before Brooklyn opens the regular season against the Hawks on Oct. 23.

Claxton intends to sign a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Less than 24 hours after dealing Mikal Bridges to the Knicks, Brooklyn is on the verge of locking up Claxton for four seasons. The 24-year-old started in each of his 147 appearances over the last two seasons, averaging 11.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game in 2024. Claxton's name had been rumored in trade talks this offseason with the Nets slated for a rebuild, but for now, he's one of the franchise's cornerstones.

Claxton produced 14 points (6-7 FG, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and five blocks in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 106-102 win over Toronto.
Claxton's team-high 11 rebounds helped him record his 30th double-double of the season during Wednesday's win. He also registered just his third game of 2023-24 with at least five blocks. Claxton's efficiency has decreased slightly from last year, going from shooting 70.5 percent from the field in 2022-23 to 63.2 percent in 2023-24.
