Ighodaro came off the bench Wednesday. He was having a productive night, though it came to an end due to a right hip injury suffered toward the end of the first half. This isn't a new issue for the 24-year-old, so it won't improve his chances of suiting up for Saturday's meeting with the Warriors. With Mark Williams (shoulder) out indefinitely, Khaman Maluach will presumably remain the starting center for the foreseeable future. The Suns may also need Ryan Dunn, Rasheer Fleming and Koa Peat to take on some minutes at the five.

Ighodaro proved to be a serviceable big man during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 6.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 22.0 minutes per contest across 82 appearances. He will be under contract through the 2030-31 season with the extension. Ighodaro moved to the bench after having started the first two preseason games. However, despite the move, he turned in arguably his best performance of the preseason, chipping across a range of categories. Both he and Khaman Maluach are going to battle for center minutes, a situation that could very well result in a timeshare. While Maluach is the preferred target in most fantasy leagues, Ighodaro should at least be on the radar, particularly for those needing out-of-position steals late in drafts.

Despite getting the starting nod over Khaman Maluach, Ighodaro did very little to push his case as the long-term starter. Luckily for him, Maluach also fell short of the mark during his time on the floor, highlighting what could end up being an ongoing issue for the Suns. If Ighodaro does manage to hold onto the starting role once the season proper comes around, he would be on the radar as a last-round flier, albeit when seeking rebounds and steals only.
