It has certainly been an interesting offseason for the Houston Texans. They made arguably the most divisive trade of the offseason by shipping off star receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona in exchange for draft capital along with running back David Johnson. They did bring in former Rams receiver Brandin Cooks to help cushion the blow of losing a stud like Hopkins, but the offense will undoubtedly be a bit less prolific once they kick off 2020.

While the jury is still out as to how this new-look Texans offense will perform, we decided to take a much-too-early look at Houston's schedule and predict how the 2020 campaign will fare for them. The Texans were able to win the AFC South with a 10-6 record in 2019, but it will be a difficult road for them in 2020, especially after the Tennessee Titans were able to retain Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry this offseason, while the Colts were able to ink veteran quarterback Philip Rivers in free agency.

Below, you'll see a full breakdown of the Texans' regular season games, complete with over/under win totals for every opponent (courtesy of William Hill Sports Book) and the lines for Week 1 and Week 2.

Houston's O/U for 2020 is 8.

Week 1 at Chiefs

Line: Chiefs -10
Opponent win total:
O/U 11.5

Prediction: There's going to be plenty of emotion surrounding the Chiefs on this night as they'll be hanging their Super Bowl LIV championship banner at Arrowhead. Without fans in the stands possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Texans won't feel the same wrath that many teams experience when they head up to Kansas City and may be an intriguing option when looking at the double-digit point spread. This game will be closer than people expect, but the champs will show similar resiliency to what we saw against the 49ers down in Miami a year ago and take it late. Chiefs win 27-20.

Projected record: 0-1

Week 2 vs. Ravens

Line: Ravens -5.5
Opponent win total:
O/U 11.5

Prediction: This is just a rough opening stretch for Houston as they get two of the AFC's most dynamic teams to begin the year. Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson is set to pick up right where he left off in 2019 and continue gashing opposing secondaries. This will be quite a melee between Jackson and Deshaun Watson, but it'll be the Ravens who edge out this display of high-flying offense. Ravens win 30-24.

Projected record: 0-2

Week 3 at Steelers

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: Over the first two weeks, you can chalk up Houston's 0-2 start as simply bad luck handed down by the league's schedule makers. Week 3, however, is when alarm bells will start ringing and Bill O'Brien's job security will become a national headline. The Texans roll into Pittsburgh and get rolled over by the Steelers, who will have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back under center after missing most of last year. Minkah Fitzpatrick and the Pittsburgh defense will give Watson and the Houston offense fits, while the defense can't do enough to slow down JuJu Smith-Schuster.  Steelers win 27-13.

Projected record: 0-3

Week 4 vs. Vikings

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: A little bit of an exhale comes in Week 4 as the Texans are able to make easy work of Kirk Cousins and Vikings. Watson once again shows out and connects with Will Fuller V, while it's J.J. Watt on the defensive side of the ball gives the Minnesota offense headaches. Texans win 23-17.

Projected record: 1-3

Week 5 vs. Jaguars

Opponent win total: O/U 4.5

Prediction: After getting the monkey off their back a week prior, Houston enjoys its second-straight home win against their division rival Jaguars. Gardner Minshew has a rough stretch, but overall plays fine. Really, the Jacksonville secondary can't find an answer for newly acquired Texans receiver Brandin Cooks, who slices them up and down the field throughout the afternoon. Texans win 24-10.

Projected record: 2-3

Week 6 at Titans

Opponent win total: O/U 8.5

Prediction: Outside of the Jaguars, any divisional game the Texans play will be tricky, especially when it comes to the Titans, who reached the AFC Championship a season ago. Houston comes into this game after finding their groove over the previous two weeks, but similar to what we saw in Week 17 last year, Tennessee's Derrick Henry bowls over this defense on the ground and leads the Titans to victory. Titans win 35-23.

Projected record: 2-4

Week 7 vs. Packers

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: This is one of those games where Deshaun Watson simply shows us how great he is. Green Bay's defense is no match for him and Aaron Rodgers doesn't have the horses to keep up with his counterpart on the other side of the field. Not only does Watson have success through the air, but he also finds the end zone with his feet in this one to give Houston a rather easy 28-17 win

Projected record: 3-4

Week 9 at Jaguars

Opponent win total: O/U 4.5

Prediction: The Texans get a soft landing spot coming out of the bye week and make quick work of the Jaguars. Jacksonville is a team contemplating going all-in on the tank and have minimal fight left in them midway through the season, which opens the door for the Texans to run over them on the ground. David Johnson has a nice little "remember me?" game on this day to help Houston get to .500. Texans win 23-9.

Projected record: 4-4

Week 10 at Browns

Opponent win total: O/U 8.5

Prediction: Cleveland comes into this game fresh off their bye week, which comes at the detriment of the Texans. Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham connect for a score on more than one occasion and the Browns defense -- headline by Myles Garrett -- does enough to fend off Watson and the rest of the Texans offense. Browns win 20-13.

Projected record: 4-5

Week 11 vs. Patriots

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: Bill O'Brien gets to face his former mentor in Bill Belichick for the first time without Tom Brady under center for New England. On top of facing the Brady-less Patriots, the Texans get a gassed New England squad heading into Houston after they are coming off back-to-back primetime matchups, including a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10. The student gets the win over the master in this one. Texans win 24-17.

Projected record: 5-5

Week 12 at Lions

Opponent win total: O/U 6.5

Prediction: The Texans head to Detroit to take on a Lions team that is on its last leg with head coach Matt Patrica sitting on the hottest seat in the NFL. It's a short week, but Watson has himself a memorable Thanksgiving performance and carves through the Lions secondary with relative ease. Watson specifically gives a "Welcome to the NFL" moment to first-round rookie corner Jeff Okudah on a national stage.

Projected record: 6-5

Week 13 vs. Colts

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: This game is obviously going to be close given that these two division rivals know each other extremely well. Houston gets its first look at this re-tooled Indy squad with Philip Rivers under center and, overall, does a strong job at neutralizing him on their home field. Watt is able to force a critical turnover that shifts the tides completely in Houston's direction. Texans win 17-13.

Projected record: 7-5

Week 14 at Bears

Opponent win total: O/U 8

Prediction: This is Deshaun Watson's first-ever game against the Bears after they selected Mitch Trubisky ahead of him at the 2017 draft and the Texans quarterback makes sure they realize their mistake. Watson puts on an offensive display for the ages, passes for four touchdowns, and smothers any sort of chance the Bears had from the jump. Chicagoans leave Soldier Field mixed with envy of Watson's talent and anger that the franchise missed out on it. Texans win 34-20.

Projected record: 8-5

Week 15 at Colts

Opponent win total: O/U 9

Prediction: Houston was able to hand the Colts an L a couple of weeks back in their first get-together, but Indianapolis comes into this game at Lucas Oil Stadium heavily motivated and hungry to get even with their division rival. It's a sluggish performance for the Texans offense after a killer display the week prior and the defense couldn't force any turnovers off Philip Rivers to shift momentum. Colts win 23-10.

Projected record: 8-6

Week 16 vs. Bengals

Opponent win total: O/U 5.5

Prediction: The Bengals have enjoyed a fine season with No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow, but they're hardly a match for the Texans at this point in time and are likely more inclined to lose this game for better draft position. Watson does enough to put up the points necessary to ensure victory and David Johnson rushes them the rest of the way home. Texans win 24-13.

Projected record: 9-6

Week 17 vs. Titans

Opponent win total: O/U 8.5

Prediction: Tennessee got the better of the Texans down in Nashville earlier in the season, but, with the playoffs in sight, Houston guts this one out at home. Duke Johnson catches a touchdown late to give the Texans the go-ahead score and clinch a double-digit win season. Texans win 27-20.

Projected record: 10-6
