Thornton signed a contract with Washington on Wednesday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
Thornton announced his retirement from the NFL during the 2017 offseason but appears to have been convinced to don the cleats once more. He projects to compete for a reserve guard role in Washington.

Hugh Thornton: Hanging up cleats
Thornton announced he will retire from the NFL on Tuesday, Curtis Jackson of the Falcons' official site reports.
Just 25, Thornton walks away from the game after missing all of the 2016 season due to an ankle injury. The guard signed with the Falcons back in March, looking to secure a reserve spot on the offensive line; however, he will now move ahead with the next chapter of his life.

Falcons' Hugh Thornton: Heading to Atlanta
Thornton signed a contract with the Falcons on Tuesday, Alex Marvez of SportingNews.com reports.
Thornton spent the entirety of last season on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Although he's struggled with injuries throughout his professional career, the 25-year-old will look to secure a reserve spot on Atlanta's offensive line.
