Jonathan Grimes: Waived by Jags
Grimes was waived by the Jaguars on Saturday, Mike Kaye of WTLV reports.
Grimes was essentially brought in as a camp body and never seemed to have a legitimate chance of making the roster. He's an unlikely candidate for the practice squad, so expect him to hit the free-agent market if he clears waivers.

Jonathan Grimes: Signs with Jaguars
Grimes agreed to a deal with the Jaguars on Friday, John Oehser of Jaguars.com reports.
Grimes spent the previous four seasons in a backup role with the Texans. The veteran back will join a crowded depth chart, and look to earn a spot providing depth behind Leonard Fournette and Chris Ivory. However, he figures to have a long shot at landing on the final roster.

Texans' Jonathan Grimes: Six touches in Saturday's playoff loss
Grimes rushed two times for 11 yards and added 43 yards receiving on four catches in Houston's 34-16 loss to New England in Saturday's divisional-round playoff game.
Grimes' 54 yards from scrimmage were the third highest on the team behind Lamar Miller (89 yards) and DeAndre Hopkins (65). He played a total of 26 snaps over Houston's two playoff games, getting more run on offense than Alfred Blue. He's spent all or parts of the last five seasons with Houston, so he's a known commodity who understands the system. Whether that's enough for Houston to bring him back for 2017 remains an open question, as they have other in-house options who come cheaper, namely, 2016 fourth-round draft pick Tyler Ervin and exclusive-rights free agent Akeem Hunt.

Texans' Jonathan Grimes: Twelve touches in Week 17 loss
Grimes had eight carries for 16 yards and caught four passes for 33 yards in Houston's 24-17 loss to Tennessee in Week 17.
There was more work available for Grimes in the regular-season finale with Lamar Miller (ankle) inactive. Miller is expected to be back for Saturday's playoff game against the Raiders, so Grimes should go back to being the third back, his role for much of the season when healthy. Grimes missed six games this season and finished with just 199 combined yards from scrimmage, the fewest in his three full seasons in Houston. He becomes an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, but his pass-catching ability and experience on special teams should land him a job.

Texans' Jonathan Grimes: More snaps than Blue in Week 13
Grimes rushed five times for 43 yards and caught one pass for 15 receiving yards in Houston's 21-13 loss to Green Bay in Week 13.
Both Grimes and Alfred Blue (five carries, two catches) saw action in this game, spelling starter Lamar Miller, but Grimes (31 snaps) got more playing time than Blue (nine snaps). It looks like an assortment of nagging injuries is taking its toll on Miller, who's averaging 16 fewer snaps per game over the past six weeks relative to the first six weeks of the season. At this point, Grimes and Blue aren't a threat to Miller's status as the lead back.

Texans' Jonathan Grimes: Top backup in Week 12
Grimes' return to action for Week 12 coincides with Alfred Blue (calf) being ruled out of Houston's home game against San Diego.
With both Blue and Tyler Ervin (rib) out of action this week, Grimes and Akeem Hunt will be the backups to starter Lamar Miller. Neither backup should challenge a healthy Miller for more than a series or two.

Texans' Jonathan Grimes: Practicing fully
Grimes returned to a full practice Wednesday after missing Houston's last two games with an undisclosed illness, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Grimes, who missed four games earlier this season with a cracked fibula, thus appears on track to be available Sunday against the Chargers, but the running back is off the fantasy radar in his reserve role behind starter Lamar Miller.
