Browns' Tyrone Holmes: Added to 53-man roster
The Browns signed Holmes off their practice squad Tuesday.
Holmes, a second-year defensive end out of Montana, was cut by the Browns following Week 1 before landing a spot on the team's practice squad. Browns' Tyrone Holmes: Signs with Browns
Holmes was signed by the Browns on Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Holmes will provide the team with depth at the defensive end position in the wake of the recent injury to No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett, who was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. Emmanuel Ogbah is expected to draw the start on one side, and it's likely between Nate Orchard (ankle) and Carl Nassib to take over Garrett's starting role. Despite the late signing, Holmes -- who played in 11 games for Cleveland in 2016 -- is a likely candidate to see snaps in Week 1.
