Thomas was on the Jets' practice squad and spent training camp with the team prior to falling victim to roster cutdowns. The 22-year-old should serve as the team's No. 3 running back now that veteran Matt Forte (knee) now that placed on injured reserve.

Thomas spent the entire preseason with the Jets but didn't make it past the final cuts. Now on the practice squad, the running back could be called up to the active roster should the team face more injuries in the backfield.

The writing appears to written on the wall for Thomas. It's unlikely the Jets will take a plethora of running backs with them to Buffalo for Week 1, so Thomas could be on the outside looking in. It seems that Elijah McGuire has secured the No. 3 spot behing Bilal Powell and Matt Forte for the time being.

Thomas was sidelined by a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
Thomas' injury doesn't appear to be very serious, but hamstring injuries have a tendency to linger, so this is definitely something to keep an eye on. For now, look for Alfred Morris and Rod Smith to gobble up the majority of the work with the third-team offense.
