  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Turns in full practice Thursday

Wright (foot/stinger) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Emily Leiker of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Wright wasn't available for the Dolphins' Week 3 loss to the Chiefs while he tended to a pair of injuries, but after turning in a limited practice Wednesday and then upgrading to full activity Thursday, he looks like he'll be good to go for Sunday's game against the Vikings. With De'Von Achane (knee) out for the season, Wright and Ollie Gordon should both be in store for expanded opportunities out of the backfield, but it's not immediately clear which of the two will rank as the Dolphins' preferred option. Miami also plans to elevate one of Jarquez Hunter or Carlos Washington from the practice squad to give the team a third running back in Sunday's contest.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Officially limited Wednesday

Wright (foot) officially was limited at Wednesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Wright didn't play in Week 3 against the Chiefs due to a stinger and foot injury, but stinger has been axed from the practice report to begin Week 4 prep, meaning only the foot issue is bothering him at the moment. If he's able to put all health concerns behind him and return to action Sunday at Minnesota, he'll be in line for a significant bump in playing time in the aftermath of De'Von Achane's torn ACL. Moving forward, Wright and Ollie Gordon are expected to pace the Dolphins backfield.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Taking part in practice Wednesday

Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said that Wright (foot/stinger) will practice Wednesday, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.

Wright sat out the Dolphins' Week 3 loss to the Chiefs while tending to a foot injury as well as a stinger, but the running back is now being viewed as day-to-day and seemingly has decent odds of making it back in action for Sunday's game against the Vikings. The third-year player earned just three touches over the first two contests of 2026, but with lead back De'Von Achane (knee) out for the season, both Wright and Ollie Gordon should be in store for added opportunities moving forward. Following Achane's early departure in Week 3, Gordon finished the game with 20 touches (17 carries, three catches), but he totaled just 55 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Prior to sitting out against the Chiefs, Wright had been working ahead of Gordon, so the former could end up being the Dolphins' preferred option once he gets back to full health.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Remains 'day-to-day'

Head coach Jeff Hafley said Monday that he considers Wright (stinger/foot) to be "day-to-day," Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.

Wright's health is notable considering the Dolphins lost No. 1 RB De'Von Achane to a torn ACL during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Having said that, Hafley also called Wright "day-to-day" last Monday after he emerged from Week 2 at San Francisco with a stinger and foot injury, which didn't allow him to play Week 3. Wright likely will need to get through this week without a DNP to put himself in the running to help cover for the absent Achane. Currently, Ollie Gordon is the only healthy RB on Miami's active roster.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Won't play Sunday

Wright (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

Wright was considered doubtful for this contest after missing practice Friday due to a foot issue and a stinger. His next chance to suit up will come in Week 4 against the Vikings. In the meantime, Ollie Gordon could see more involvement behind De'Von Achane.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Unlikely to play Sunday

Wright (foot) is considered doubtful for Sunday's game against Kansas City, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Ollie Gordon is the favorite for whatever backfield snaps and touches aren't taken by De'Von Achane, who has played 83 percent of Miami's offensive snaps through two weeks.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Limited again Thursday

Wright (foot) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Wright is not only battling a foot injury, but he also sustained a stinger in Sunday's 35-13 loss to San Francisco. However, since he practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday and Thursday, the door remains open regarding his potential to play in Week 3 against Kansas City. While Wright hasn't held a prominent role, his absence would likely mean more work for Ollie Gordon behind De'Von Achane.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Nursing multiple injuries

Wright (stinger/foot) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.

Wright was forced out of Sunday's loss at San Francisco early with a stinger, and it looks like he might have picked up a foot issue along the way as well. He'll likely have to manage a full practice Thursday or Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Considered day-to-day

Wright (neck) is day-to-day heading into Week 3, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Wright suffered a stinger during Sunday's 35-13 loss to the 49ers, and he finished his day having turned two carries into 11 yards while also adding 79 kickoff-return yards. The running back's status at the team's first practice of the week Wednesday will shed some more light on his chances to play Week 3 versus the Chiefs.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Exits game with stinger

Wright is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers due to a stinger.

Wright logged two carries for 11 yards prior to going to the locker room, where he's undergoing more tests to determine the severity of his injury. If Wright ends up being shut down for the rest of the contest, Ollie Gordon would be the lone backup option behind starting running back De'Von Achane.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Minimal usage in loss

Wright had two kick returns for 106 yards alongside one carry for a one-yard loss in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Raiders.

Wright was an afterthought behind starting running back De'Von Achane, who had 11 carries and five targets in the loss. The No. 2 option likely will make a living as a returner -- he had a 79-yard return Sunday -- with snaps and touches looking minimal behind Achane.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Listed as RB2 behind Achane

Wright is listed as the Dolphins' No. 2 running back on the team's initial depth chart ahead of a Week 1 matchup against the Raiders.

The 23-year-old is entering his third NFL season after being selected in the fourth round of the 2024 Draft by then-coach Mike McDaniel. Now playing under a new coaching staff, Wright appears to be ahead of Ollie Gordon and special-teams player Carlos Washington for backup duties behind De'Von Achane. Wright carried the ball 70 times for 288 yards (4.1 YPC) and two touchdowns last season but hasn't been asked to catch the ball in the pros, with just eight grabs for 52 yards across 25 career regular-season contests.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Six carries in preseason loss

Wright rushed six times for 22 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Dolphins' 20-7 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday. He also returned one kickoff for no gain.

Wright came into the contest on the Dolphins' second possession and was immediately a focal point, as he was targeted on a deep pass by Quinn Ewers to open the drive and then rattled off a 13-yard run the very next play. Wright found running room at a premium on the rest of his carries while splitting time with Ollie Gordon, who he's trying to hold off for the No. 2 running back job behind De'Von Achane. Wright and Gordon should both continue to feature fairly heavily in Miami's second preseason game, which comes Saturday, Aug. 22 at home against the Giants.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Leading RB2 competition

The Dolphins listed Wright as the No. 2 running back on the team's first unofficial depth chart released Tuesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Depth charts released in training camp are fluid and subject to change, but it looks like Wright is ahead of 2025 sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon for the main backup role behind De'Von Achane. Wright missed the first six games of 2025 due to a knee injury, but he had his moments when he was healthy, including a Week 14 performance against the Jets in which he turned 24 carries into 107 yards and a touchdown. Friday's preseason opener against the Commanders will provide Wright's first in-game opportunity to separate himself from Gordon.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Looking good at OTAs

Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said Thursday that Wright "has some speed" and looks comfortable this offseason, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

It sounds like Wright is off to a good start under the new coaching staff, competing with Ollie Gordon, Donovan Edwards and others for backup backfield roles behind De'Von Achane. One of the bunch could see a decent number of carries, as the Dolphins presumably won't want the sub-200-pound Achane butting heads between the tackles repeatedly. Wright was billed as a big-play threat rather than a power runner when the Dolphins took him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he does have decent size (5-foot-10, 208 pounds) to go with his 4.38 speed (2024 Combine).
