Odeyingbo, a 2021 second-round pick, put together career-high numbers across the board in 2023. He's begun to find success as a key rotational pass rusher in Indianapolis' defensive scheme, and in 2024 Odeyingbo's numbers could uptick again if he's able to more consistently handle above 50 percent of defensive snaps.... Odeyingbo's performance in Week 15 brought his season sack total up to 8.0, putting him in position to push for double digits in that category in his third NFL season. Colts' Dayo Odeyingbo: Puts on weight in offseason
Odeyingbo said Wednesday that he's up to 285 pounds and indicated that he can feel his Achilles getting stronger now that he's more than two years removed from tearing it, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
The Colts made Odeyingbo a second-round pick in April 2021, three months after he tore his Achilles' tendon while training for the draft. He played only 173 defensive snaps in 10 games as a rookie before progressing to 518 snaps (45.5 percent), 31 tackles and five sacks in 17 games last season. Odeyingbo, 2021 first-round pick Kwity Paye and offseason signee Samson Ebukam project to handle most of the snaps at defensive end for Indianapolis in 2023, but Odeyingbo could also get some interior snaps on passing downs, especially if he keeps his weight above 280.... This move was expected as Odeyingbo tore his Achilles while training for the NFL Draft. The 22-year-old will be inactive for at least the first six weeks of the season after being placed on the reserve/NFI list, but it remains to be seen if that is all the time that he will miss.
