    The Saints released Dixon from their practice squad Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

    Dixon will cede his spot on the practice squad to veteran running back Latavius Murray. An undrafted rookie receiver out of Nicholls State, Dixon will hope to catch on with another organization's practice squad.

  • Dai'Jean Dixon: Re-signs with practice squad

    The Saints signed Dixon to the team's practice squad Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

    The rookie wide receiver failed to make the Saints' final roster Tuesday, but he figures to serve as a depth option should any member of the team's WR corps miss any time. Dixon recorded a team-high four receptions and 33 receiving yards during New Orleans' preseason opener, but he was otherwise quiet throughout the team's final two exhibitions, catching just one pass for five yards.

    The Saints waived Dixon on Tuesday.

    Dixon led the Saints in receptions (four) and receiving yards (33) during the preseason opener, but he caught just one of three targets for five yards during the final two exhibition games. He signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Nicholls State, where he recorded 236 receptions, 3,802 yards and 35 touchdowns during his standout career.
