The Steelers signed Lovett on Monday, Alex Kozora of the Steelers Depot reports.
Lovett spent part of his rookie season on Carolina's practice squad and will now head to Pittsburgh to replace the injured Alfonzo Graham (shoulder). Though it's unlikely that the 23-year-old Lovett makes the final team, he can still compete for a spot on the practice squad.

However, he couldn't parlay his strong performance into a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster. Lovett was signed by the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State, where he finished his collegiate career with 72 total touches for 113 yards over eight appearances.

Lovett spent his first three collegiate seasons at Baylor but transferred to Penn State last year.
