Giants' Charlie Jones: Signed to active roster
The Giants signed Jones to the active roster from their practice squad Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jones will slot in as the team's fifth-string receiver following the release of Odell Beckham earlier in the day. Jones is also expected to serve as the backup punt returner behind Braxton Berrios.

Charlie Jones: Catches on with New York's practice squad
The Giants signed Jones to the practice squad Tuesday.
The Bengals waived Jones during Sunday's cutdown day. The wide receiver cleared waivers and will now move over to the Giants to begin the regular season. Jones competed to be the Bengals' primary return specialist but lost out on the job to Ke'Shawn Williams and Samaje Perine. The 27-year-old Jones will now provide additional depth to the Giants from the practice squad.

Jones was competing to serve as the team's primary return specialist but ended up losing out on the role. The 2023 fourth-round pick failed to haul in his only target across 14 games with Cincinnati last season but managed to amass 1,084 kick-return yards and returned one kickoff for a touchdown. The third-year wideout from Purdue didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and is now in line to miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury. Jones appeared in 14 contests for Cincinnati this season, recording 1,084 kick-return yards and 115 punt-return yards. Jones missed last Sunday's win over the Dolphins with the ankle injury he suffered in Week 15 against the Ravens. The returner's inability to practice to start the week is a poor sign for his chances to suit up for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Jones will have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation and dodge an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game.
