Steelers' Robert Spears-Jennings: Poised to start Week 5
Spears-Jennings is on track to start Sunday's contest against the Colts, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
Spears-Jennings was able to notch seven total tackles (six solo) and an interception in the team's Week 4 loss to the Browns. Head coach Mike McCarthy praised the rookie Thursday, outlining that Spears-Jennings has "been productive in every opportunity" that the team has given him. Spears-Jennings out snapped fellow safety Rayshawn Jenkins versus Cleveland, and Spears-Jennings figures to operate as the team's starting strong safety Sunday versus Indianapolis.

Steelers' Robert Spears-Jennings: Logs pair of passes defensed in loss
Spears-Jennings logged seven tackles (six solo) and two passes defensed in Thursday night's 27-24 loss to the Browns.
Spears-Jennings' six solo tackles were second only to Payton Wilson on the night. The free safety's two passes defensed led the Steelers, and Spears-Jennings accounted for two of the team's seven breakups in the contest. The 22-year-old reached the total despite playing just 56 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps.

Steelers' Robert Spears-Jennings: Selected by Steelers
The Steelers selected Spears-Jennings in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 224th overall.
It's not often that you see multi-year starting safeties with 4.32 speed fall to the seventh round, but for Spears-Jennings (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) that's exactly what happened after starting at Oklahoma the last two years. Spears-Jennings is a fearless and explosive safety but one whose otherwise uncommon athleticism has proven difficult to harness effectively. Despite his speed, it was challenging for Spears-Jennings to maintain his coverage assignments, and in pursuit he's liable to misfire. The positive news is that even if he never improves at all, Spears-Jennings should be a capable special-teams contributor.
