Jesse Matthews: Let go by Atlanta
The Falcons waived Matthews on Saturday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Matthews entered training camp battling for a depth spot at wide receiver but didn't produce enough on offense across three preseason games, finishing with three catches (on seven targets) for 20 yards. The San Diego State product will be on the lookout for a team in need of wide receiver depth, but he hasn't seen regular-season action since joining the league in May of 2023, when he signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent.

Falcons' Jesse Matthews: Fails to haul in lone target
Matthews failed to catch his lone target during Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Lions. He also returned one kickoff for 23 yards.
Despite playing 23 offensive snaps, the second-most among wideouts behind Dylan Drummond, Matthews was a nonfactor on offense. The undrafted free agent out of San Diego State missed the entire 2023 campaign due to an ACL tear and spent last season on the Falcons' practice squad. Despite the familiarity with the organization, it's unlikely Matthews lands a spot on the initial 53-man roster.

Falcons' Jesse Matthews: Inks deal with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Matthews to a reserve/future contract Monday, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
The San Diego State product spent the year on Atlanta's practice squad and has never appeared in an NFL game after going undrafted in 2023. Matthews will have the opportunity to be a part of the Falcons' offseason activities and attempt to earn a spot on their active roster next season.

Jesse Matthews: Opportunity found
Matthews signed with the Falcons' practice squad on Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Matthews joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2023, but he suffered a torn ACL during training camp, derailing what had been a strong showing up until that point. The San Diego State product's addition to the practice squad will continue to give him a chance to get on the team's active roster.

Jesse Matthews: Waived by Atlanta
Matthews was waived by the Falcons on Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Matthews signed with Atlanta in July, registering 57 yards on seven catches with the team during the preseason. If the wide receiver clears waivers, it's certainly possible that he joins the Falcons' practice squad ahead of the 2024 season.

Falcons' Jesse Matthews: Inks deal with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Matthews on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Matthews impressed the Texans after going undrafted last offseason, but he unfortunately tore his ACL and missed all of 2023. The San Diego State product has now made a full recovery from his ACL tear and has agreed to terms with Atlanta following a successful workout. Expect Matthews to compete for a depth role in the Falcons' wide receiver room as the offseason progresses.

Jesse Matthews: Visits Seattle for tryout
The Seahawks hosted Matthews (knee) for a tryout Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Matthews appears to have recovered from the torn ACL that forced him to spend the entire 2023 season on IR with Houston. Now, the San Diego State product will work to earn an opportunity with Seattle, where he could offer upside as a special-teams project due to his speed.

Jesse Matthews: Works out for Houston
Matthews (knee) worked out with the Texans this week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Matthews, who signed with Houston last spring as an undrafted free agent, spent all of the 2023 season on the injured reserve while recovering from a torn ACL. The Texans released him earlier this offseason, but his ability to work out in front of the team suggests he's healthy again and looking to sign with a team ahead of NFL training camps.

Texans' Jesse Matthews: Injury details revealed
Matthews suffered a torn ACL before being placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Specifics of Matthews' injury were unknown when he was placed on IR earlier Tuesday; however, the reason is clear now. It's a tough break for the undrafted free agent out of San Diego State, who was working to earn a depth role in the Texans' receiving corps. He'll now focus on his recovery so he can make another attempt at an NFL roster in 2024.

Texans' Jesse Matthews: Moved to IR
The Texans have placed Matthews on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Matthews, an undrafted free agent, was reportedly having a strong camp prior to landing on IR. The San Diego State product's season may have come to a premature end unless both he and the Texans can eventually come to terms on an injury settlement once his health is back up to par.
