  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Not ready for activation

McLeod (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos.

McLeod has been on injured reserve all season but managed to return to practice this week. He logged limited sessions each day, suggesting a return in Week 17 is possible.

  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Designated for return from IR

The Jaguars designated McLeod (lower body) for return from injured reserve Tuesday.

The move opens McLeod's 21-day practice window, giving him a maximum of three weeks of practice before the team needs to decide whether to activate McLeod. The sixth-round rookie has yet to appear in a game this season after he was injured over the summer.

  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Placed on IR, designated to return

McLeod (lower body) was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return Tuesday.

McLeod suffered a lower-body injury at practice in early August, and he will now be forced to miss at least four games to open the 2025 campaign. In McLeod's absence, Ventrell Miller and Dennis Gardeck may stand to see an increase in workload at outside linebacker.

  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Dealing with lower-body issue

McLeod is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.

McLeod sustained a lower-body injury at practice this week, which could sideline him for Saturday's preseason opener against the Steelers. The rookie linebacker will likely have to set his sights on making his debut Aug. 17 versus the Saints.

  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Gets chance in Jacksonville

The Jaguars selected McLeod in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 194th overall.

McCleod transferred to Auburn from Appalachian State for his final two seasons. He started nearly every game at Auburn and recorded 105 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He has tweener size (6-foot-1, 241 pounds) and his athleticism is likely average at best having not tested at the 2025 NFL Combine. His production is enough to justify this pick alone, however, and he could hold his own on special teams until he earns a rotational defensive role.
