That will presumably change for Sunday's matchup against the Browns, as Abraham Lucas (knee) is sidelined and Phil Haynes (calf) is considered doubtful to play. Peters has spent time at both guard and tackle in practice, so he could be set for a versatile role if called upon.

Jason Peters: Could be thrust into role in Week 2
Peters signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Tuesday, and it's possible he may be elevated for Week 2 versus the Lions, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Peters said Wednesday that he could be ready "maybe this Sunday, maybe a couple of weeks." With Charles Cross (toe) a nonparticipant at practice and Abraham Lucas (kneecap) being placed on injured reserve Wednesday, the 41-year-old could be asked to suit up Sunday in Detroit. Head coach Pete Carroll said, "[You] would think you give him a couple weeks... I don't know if we can afford it." Regardless whether Peters is active for Week 2, the offensive tackle seems likely to join Seattle's roster in the coming weeks.

Jason Peters: Finds new opportunity
Peters signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Peters will now have an opportunity to complete a 20th NFL season at the age of 41. The veteran offensive tackle's arrival comes as both of Seattle's starters, Charles Cross (toe) and Abraham Lucas (knee), are dealing with injuries. Although Peters will start on the practice squad, he may have an opportunity to quickly move up to the 53-man roster.

Peters expressed last month that he was interested in pursuing a 20th season in the NFL, but he has remained a free agent. Now with Charles Cross (toe) banged up and Abraham Lucas (knee) still dealing with a patellar tendon injury, the 41-year-old could get his shot with Seattle. If all goes well at the visit, Peters is expected to sign with the Seahawks' practice squad, then potentially move up to the active roster. The offensive tackle operated in a very similar scenario with Dallas last season.

Peters, still a free agent, wants to continue his career as what would be his 20th regular season approaches. The 41-year-old tackle suffered a hip injury during the Cowboys' wild-card win over the Buccaneers last year, but he is presumably now healthy and ready to sign should a team desire his services.
