The Colorado Avalanche have been having a lot of fun this year, to the tune of an NHL-best 9-1-0 record. So who could blame them for keeping things light?

During Friday night’s game between the Avs and the Hurricanes, Altitude TV’s color analyst Peter McNab was interviewing Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson on the bench during a stoppage. Erik Johnson couldn’t resist the opportunity to razz his teammate a bit.

Johnson started petting Wilson’s stick with his own. When that didn’t distract Wilson enough, Johnson moved the stick blade closer to Wilson’s face. That got the job done as Wilson could barely continue the interview. Johnson didn’t let up, either, drawing laughs from Wilson and McNab, who just had his interview ruined.

It was a 2-1 game midway through the second period when Wilson was getting interviewed, so it looks like the Avs don’t have any trouble staying loose even during a tight game. Maybe that’s one of the reasons they’ve been so good this year.
