JT Brown: Moving to broadcast booth
Brown announced his retirement Monday and will join the Seattle Kraken broadcast team as a commentator, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.
Brown spent last season playing in Sweden for Bjorkloven IF for which he tallied six goals and six helpers in 19 contests. Over the course of his seven-year NHL career, the 30-year-old Brown saw action in 365 games for the Lightning, Ducks and Wild and tallied 23 goals, 49 assists and 221 PIM along the way.

J.T. Brown: Signs overseas
Brown agreed to terms on a one-year deal with IF Bjorkloven (Sweden) on Wednesday.
Brown spent the entire 2019-20 campaign in the minors with AHL Iowa and was never able to force his way into the Minnesota lineup. In his 62 minor-league outings, the 30-year-old winger registered nine goals and 13 helpers. This could mark the end of Brown's NHL career. If so, he would retire having logged 365 games for the Lightning, Ducks and Wild, garnering 23 goals and 49 assists.

Wild's J.T. Brown: On waiver wire
Brown was designated for waivers by the Wild on Monday for the purpose of reassignment, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
After appearing in 56 outings for Minnesota last season, in which he tallied three goals and five helpers, Brown may be forced to begin the year in the minors. The 29- year-old has 365 games of NHL experience under his belt, which could persuade another team to try snatching him up. Barring a claim, the Minnesota native will link up with AHL Iowa for the start of the minor-league campaign.

Brown was allegedly arrested early Saturday in Dallas on suspicion of public intoxication, Sarah McLellan of the Star Tribune reports.

This effectively ends Brown's 2018-19 campaign, with the speedy and spirited grinder finishing with three goals and eight points through 56 games. There are plenty of guys in the NHL that hold real significance to their own club but barely move the needle in fantasy hockey -- Brown neatly fits that description.

Brown has seen no power-play time this campaign, so the fact that he has seven points in 53 games is decent for the winger. The 28-year-old has made his presence felt on the defensive side this season, racking up 94 hits and 13 blocks. With a limited role, Brown shouldn't be anywhere near fantasy lineups.

The Wild summoned Brown from AHL Iowa on Thursday.
Brown will join a Wild squad that has run with 11 forwards and seven defensemen of late to preserve Charlie Coyle's health in advance of trading him. Coyle's now out the door, paving the way for Brown to join the club and serve as the team's 12th forward. He's expected to draw in Thursday and should slot into a bottom-six role.

Brown has been a healthy scratch in 13 of the last 22 games and has just four points in 35 contests this season. The Wild only have 11 healthy forwards at the time of this report, but Pontus Aberg (lower body) could return for Tuesday's game versus the Sabres. Still, the Wild are expected to recall a player or two from the AHL Wild, which is where Brown will land if he clears waivers.

Brown emerged from the press box after sitting out the two games prior to Thursday's 4-3 road win over the Lightning. He was held without a point over 8:27 of ice time.
Brown doesn't have a substantial role for Minnesota, and the two-way aspect of his contract means that he could be sent down to AHL Iowa if the Wild continue to have trouble determining where he fits into the scheme. Even in a deep league, you should have no problem finding a skater who's matched or exceeded his output of four points through 29 games.

Brown pitched in seven points (two goals, five assists) in 2017-18, playing in 24 games with Tampa Bay and 23 contests with Anaheim.
After appearing in just 24 of the first 45 games with Tampa Bay, Brown was placed on waivers and claimed by Anaheim on Jan. 14, but still appeared in just 23 of the last 38 games. Brown also averaged just 9:04 of ice time on the year, but still brought physicality throwing in 71 hits. Brown is set to be an unrestricted free agent, but since he did appear in each of Anaheim's playoff games, perhaps he'll stick around Southern California.
