Corban Knight: Headed for KHL
Knight put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Barys Nur-Sultan (KHL) on Tuesday.
Knight appeared in 23 games for the Flyers this season, in which he tallied one goal, three helpers and 15 shots. With the center bouncing between leagues, he only saw action in eight AHL contests, though he put up 10 points in those outings. Drafted by the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Draft, this could mark the end of the 28-year-old's time in the NHL, where he logged a total of 52 games for Calgary, Florida and Philadelphia.

Flyers' Corban Knight: Drops to minors
The Flyers reassigned Knight to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Knight played the final 20 games of the season with the big club, producing four points and a minus-5 rating. The 28-year-old will look to help the minor-league club secure a playoff spot as the team hits its final stretch of games.

Knight has three assists with a plus-2 rating in the last three games.
It's been a nice little run for the 28-year-old, but he still has work to do to reach a career high in points during 2018-19. In the last season in which he played in the NHL (2015-16), Knight played 20 games, scoring two goals and seven points. This season, he's matched that career high in games, but scored only one goal with four points. All three of his assists this season have come in the last three contests.

Knight posted a shot on goal in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Penguins on Sunday, but he still doesn't have a point in 13 games with the Flyers.
The 28-year-old is receiving his first chance in three years to play at the NHL level, but he's not really taking advantage of it. Not that he's all to blame, and the Flyers seem content to continue giving him chances, but Knight has only posted a minus-4 rating and 11 shots on net in 13 contests. He has three goals and eight points with a minus-2 rating in 42 career NHL games.

Flyers' Corban Knight: Still searching for first point
Knight remained pointless during a 5-3 loss to the Capitals on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old is making his first NHL appearance this season since 2015-16, and in eight games, he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. The only real contribution Knight has made is in the faceoff circle. After winning eight of 10 draws versus the Capitals, he has won 64.1 percent of his faceoffs this season.

The Flyers are almost certainly going to move Wayne Simmonds prior to Monday's trade deadline, so they may opt to hold him out of the lineup Saturday and slot Knight in against the Penguins instead. The 28-year-old forward has notched six points in four AHL appearances this season.

According to coach Scott Gordon, Knight will need to participate in some more contact practices before he can be cleared, but seems to be nearing a return, per Bill Meltzer of NHL.com. Knight will likely be shipped down to the minors once given the green light to play, though he could earn a call-up down the stretch.

Knight was originally expected to be sidelined until March after breaking his collarbone in late October, but the Flyers now expect him to be ready to return to game action in mid-to-late February. The 28-year-old suffered an upper-body injury during the preseason, which caused him to miss the season opener. When he returned, Knight still sat as a healthy scratch until receiving his first chance to play on Oct. 18. Since then, though, Knight has sat out as a healthy scratch in the last two contests. Last season, Knight scored two goals and seven points with 18 hits in 20 games. If he can ever crack the lineup on a regular basis, Knight could be a decent depth piece in leagues with hits, but that's a big "if."

Knight (upper body) is not quite ready to return, Marc Narducci of The Inquirer reports.
The Flyers are dealing with injuries to five forwards -- including James van Riemsdyk (lower body) and Nolan Patrick (upper body) -- therefore the team really could have used a healthy Knight for Saturday's matinee against Vegas. "He needs a little more practice time," GM Ron Hextall said. "He is getting close. I watched today (Friday), and he needs a little more contact, but he is getting close."
