Canucks' Brad Hunt: Lands one-year deal with Vancouver
Hunt inked a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.
A well-traveled blueliner, Hunt returns north of the border to Canada for the first time since he left Edmonton following the 2015-16 season. The veteran defenseman has posted lackluster campaigns in each of the last two seasons and hasn't really been a huge fantasy factor during his tenure in the NHL save a couple of seasons. He should have some role on the back end for Vancouver in 2021-22 but it's unlikely we'll see a resurgence from him from a fantasy standpoint.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Gets goal in return to lineup
Hunt scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Coyotes.
Hunt hadn't played since before the Wild's season was paused due to a COVID-19 outbreak. He was ultimately out of the lineup for nine straight games, but he made his mark in his return, as his first-period goal was ultimately the game-winner. The 32-year-old defenseman had a career-high 19 points in 59 outings last year, but his goal Friday was his first in six contests in 2020-21. Hunt will likely be little more than a rotational option for the Wild. Without his role as a power-play specialist -- he did not earn time with the man advantage Friday -- there's little reason for fantasy managers to roster him.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Cleared from virus protocols
Hunt was removed from the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list Wednesday, Sarah McLellan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Hunt missed Tuesday's loss to the Kings due to the league's virus protocols, but he'll be an option for Thursday's game against Anaheim if needed. The 32-year-old blueliner has gone scoreless through five games this campaign.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Lands in protocol
Hunt was added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list Sunday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
Hunt joins eight teammates on the protocol list and it's unclear how much time he'll miss. The veteran defenseman has played in five games this season is still looking for his first point. If he misses time, Dakota Mermis could replace him in the lineup.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Suits up Saturday
Hunt supplied one shot and a block across 5:09 of ice time in Saturday's 4-1 win over San Jose.
Hunt stepped into the lineup Saturday for the first time this season, as he played sparingly in an extra-defensemen role. With the Wild dealing Greg Pateryn to Colorado in exchange for Ian Cole on Tuesday, playing time may be hard to come by for Hunt. Once forward Nico Sturm (undisclosed) returns to the lineup, expect Hunt to shuffle back to the press box, leaving him firmly off fantasy radars.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Collects power-play assist in loss
Hunt managed a power-play assist, four shots on goal and two blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.
Hunt notched the secondary helper on Kevin Fiala's first-period marker. The assist snapped a four-game point drought for the defenseman. Hunt also attained a new career-high with 19 points, 10 of which have come on the power play. The 31-year-old blueliner has 101 shots, 36 blocks and a minus-4 rating in 55 appearances.... Wild's Brad Hunt: On scoresheet with helper
Hunt registered an assist and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Canucks.
Hunt matched his career high in points with 18, achieving the mark in 50 games this year. The defenseman has added 91 shots on goal, 29 blocks and a minus-3 rating in a limited, third-pairing role. His fantasy value is limited to deeper formats.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Tallies pair of points
Hunt had a goal and an assist with three shots and two blocks in Thursday's 4-2 win over Vancouver.
Hunt opened the scoring with a snap shot from the point just over six minutes into the first period. He also set up Kevin Fiala's power-play marker later in the frame that sent the Wild into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead. A veteran depth defenseman, Hunt is averaging just over 15 minutes of ice time per night and has chipped in with a career-high eight goals and 16 points through 46 games.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Quiet in return
Hunt (illness) fired three shots on goal, dished a hit and blocked a shot in 12:13 during Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blackhawks.
The defenseman missed seven games due to the illness. Hunt is at 15 points (eight on the power play) and 83 shots in 45 contests. A power-play specialist, Hunt could set a new career high in offense this season, but he's not likely to help outside of filling rosters in DFS.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Good to go
Hunt (illness) will return to the lineup for Tuesday's clash with Chicago, Sarah McLellan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Hunt has been sidelined since Jan. 12 due to an illness, so he'll likely have some rust to shake off early on Tuesday. The 31-year-old rearguard, who's picked up 15 points in 44 games this campaign, will skate on Minnesota's third pairing and second power-play unit against the Blackhawks.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Unable to play versus Bruins
Hunt (illness) will not play in Saturday's game against the Bruins.
Hunt will miss a fifth straight game due to illness. The defenseman is only a part-time player for the Wild, so fantasy owners shouldn't miss him as he continues to work on getting back up to speed. His next chance to return is Tuesday versus the Blackhawks.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Unavailable Wednesday
Hunt (illness) will remain on the shelf for Wednesday's clash with the Red Wings, Sarah McLellan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Hunt has been sidelined since Jan. 9 versus Calgary due to his lingering illness. While the defender has returned to practice, he is still working his way back up to game speed. With both the All-Star break and the team's bye week coming up, the Wild aren't back in action until Feb. 1 against Boston which should be plenty of time for Hunt to get back to 100 percent.... Wild's Brad Hunt: Remains on shelf Monday
Hunt (illness) won't play in Monday's game versus the Panthers, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Hunt can't seem to shake this sickness, as he'll miss his third straight game due to the illness. He was a healthy scratch for two games beforehand, though, so his absence won't shake up the team's blue-line dynamic much. Hunt will aim to get back in the lineup Wednesday versus the Red Wings.... Wild's Brad Hunt: Still not right
Hunt (illness) will miss Saturday's contest versus Dallas.
The 31-year-old will sit with an illness Saturday. Even when healthy, Hunt has found himself on the outside looking in most nights, so best to avoid the veteran blueliner in fantasy.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Absent from practice
Hunt was held out of practice Thursday due to illness, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Hunt was a healthy scratch in the Wild's previous two contests and may not have been in the lineup versus the Lightning anyway. If needed, the club has Nick Seeler available to serve as an emergency depth option. Prior to being benched, the 31-year-old Hunt was stuck in a five-game pointless streak. Once healthy, the defenseman should be capable of earning back his spot on the blue line.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Falling out of favor
Hunt has been a healthy scratch for the past two games.
With Greg Pateryn on the mend from groin surgery Sunday, Hunt lost his spot in the Wild lineup. It's surprising for Hunt, especially considering the 31-year-old had seen 2:17 of average power-play time this campaign. With eight healthy defensemen on the roster, Hunt is locked into a battle with Pateryn, Carson Soucy and Nick Seeler for ice time, which doesn't bode well for his fantasy prospects.... See More ... Wild's Brad Hunt: Gathers two points in win
Hunt netted a goal and added a helper in an 8-5 win over the Coyotes on Thursday.
Hunt had the secondary helper on Eric Staal's second-period goal. The Coyotes bounced back from that, but Hunt's sixth tally of the season restored the lead for the Wild. The blueliner is at 14 points and 59 shots on goal through 36 games this season, which is just four points shy of his career high.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Quiet start to December
Hunt has just one assist while averaging 13:32 of ice time through the first five games of December.
Although Hunt hasn't produced big numbers from a scoring standpoint, head coach Bruce Boudreau has awarded his strong play with 2:26 of average power-play time this season. The 31-year-old is still on pace for his best season in terms of production in his career through just 31 games. With plenty of premium ice time, Hunt is a sneaky fantasy option going forward, especially with Jared Spurgeon (hand) and Greg Pateryn (groin) still managing injuries.... See More ... See Less
Wild's Brad Hunt: Strong start to campaign
Hunt has racked up 10 points and is averaging 15:27 of ice time through the first 20 games of the season.
Hunt has built off his strong end to the season last year, following it up with a half-point per game average early. He's done so seeing 2:14 of average power-play time, and racking up six of his 10 points on the man advantage. Hunt has already tied a career-high five goals in a season, rocking a stunning 17 percent shot percentage.... See More ... See Less
