Grundstrom is set to take on a depth role for the Flyers after Tyson Foerster (upper body) was ruled out for 2-3 months following an MRI on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Grundstrom has made just one NHL appearance this season, and he's posted 15 points in 19 AHL games with the Phantoms.

He's a veteran of 292 regular-season NHL outings, with his latest work at the top level coming with San Jose last year. Flyers' Carl Grundstrom: Waived by Philadelphia
Grundstrom was placed on waivers by the Flyers on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Grundstrom was traded to the Flyers from the Sharks earlier Sunday, but he'll be left off Philadelphia's Opening Night roster. He made 56 regular-season appearances for San Jose last year and recorded three goals, six assists, 172 hits, 24 PIM and 18 blocked shots while averaging 9:36 of ice time. It wouldn't be surprising to see Grundstrom called up to serve as additional depth if the Flyers deal with injuries at some point.

Flyers' Carl Grundstrom: Dealt to City of Brotherly Love
Philadelphia acquired Grundstrom and Artem Guryev from San Jose on Sunday in exchange for Ryan Ellis (back) and a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick.

Grundstrom ended a four-game slump with the helper. The Sharks moved Klim Kostin (lower body) and Nikolai Kovalenko (upper body) to IR while activating Jake Walman (lower body) and Grundstrom. Sharks' Carl Grundstrom: Close to returning
Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said Monday that Grundstrom (undisclosed) is close to returning and could be an option to play at home against the Golden Knights on Tuesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Grundstrom sustained an injury against the Flames on Dec. 28, and he's missed the last three games while on injured reserve. However, it appears as though the 27-year-old could return to action following a minimal IR stint. Grundstrom has made 30 appearances this season, racking up a goal, four assists, 85 hits and 12 PIM while averaging 9:00 of ice time.
