Lappin was reassigned to AHL Binghamton on Wednesday.
The depth winger was pressed out of the lineup with the return of Kurtis Gabriel (undisclosed) on Tuesday, and now Lappin will be confined to the minor league for the rest of the season -- that is, unless the Devils find themselves in need of an emergency call-up or tap into a finite number of standard recalls.

Lappin was recalled from AHL Binghamton on Wednesday.
Lappin will provide some emergency depth given the lengthy list of Devils forwards currently in the infirmary; including John Quenneville (undisclosed) and Miles Wood (lower body). who were both injured in Monday's tilt versus Montreal. In 45 minor-league contests this season, the 26-year-old Lappin has racked up 16 goals and 11 helpers and could provide some quality depth scoring if he does slot into the lineup.

Lappin just lit the lamp once in 2017-18, playing just six games on the season.
After skating in 43 games during 2016-17 at the NHL level, Lappin took a step back this season, but his offensive ability was on full display in the minors. The Illinois native was able to score 31 goals and collect 22 assists in 65 games, which was the 35th best points-per-game rate of all players with at least 40 games under their belt. Expect Lappin to make a push for the roster in training camp, but if he doesn't make the top four lines, he'll likely return to the AHL to receive consistent playing time. Although, he is a restricted free agent, so there's always a chance he winds up with a different team in 2018-19.

Lappin was reassigned to AHL Binghamton on Wednesday.
Lappin was originally called up as a reinforcement option with Brian Boyle questionable to play in a Feb. 13 contest against the Flyers -- he didn't suit up for that one or the following two games, but has since returned for a Devils team looking to secure a playoff spot. Lappin is lauded for his ability to contribute in all situations, but he'll have to bide his time in the minors awhile longer. The undrafted winger will look to build upon his season total of 29 points (17 goals, 12 assists) through 42 games for the AHL's Devils.

Lappin was recalled from AHL Binghamton on Monday.
The former Brown University Bear has already suited up for two games with New Jersey this season, tallying a goal along the way, as well as 17 goals and 29 points in 42 AHL contests. With Brian Boyle's injury status in the air after he made an early exit from Sunday's loss to the Bruins, either Lappin or Christoph Bertschy will likely enter the lineup Tuesday if Boyle is unable to play.

The Devils don't play again until Monday, a home clash with the Ducks, but New Jersey's top development affiliate will play host to Belleville on Saturday, affording Lappin -- who tallied his fifth career goal against Dallas on Friday -- more playing time as he continues to polish his game anywhere he can. Also, as noted by Ryan in this latest report, Lappin's reassignment suggests that at least one of Taylor Hall (knee), Marcus Johansson (ankle) and Kyle Palmieri (foot) could be fit to play in the next game. Lappin won't have much fantasy appeal while his playing time is linked to the health of others.
