Penguins' Kevin Roy: Headed to Steel City
Roy was acquired by Pittsburgh from Florida in exchange for Ryan Haggerty on Tuesday.
Roy has tallied four goals and 10 helpers in 23 games with AHL Springfield this season. The 26-year-old last played in the NHL during the 2018-19 campaign when with ANaheim and has a total of 28 games under his belt. The winger will report to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton but could earn a look down the stretch as Pittsburgh continues to be plagued by injuries.

Panthers' Kevin Roy: Gets two-way deal from Florida
Roy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Monday.
The 26-year-old forward will likely function as organizational depth for the Panthers' AHL affiliate in Springfield after seeing his most of his action in 2018-19 in the minors. As a member of the Ducks organization last season, Roy appeared in just three games at the NHL level and eight with AHL San Diego.

Roy worked on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry in this three-game NHL stint, but he went pointless and fired just two shots on net. He'll move back to minors with center Sam Steel, likely meaning Devin Shore (lower body) is ready for Friday's game versus the Canadiens.

Roy signed a one-year, $874,000 two-way contract with the Ducks on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Roy was extended a qualifying offer back in June as he entered restricted free agency, and, as expected, he will remain in Anaheim. Roy ended up playing 25 games in the NHL last season after making the jump from AHL San Diego and recorded six goals and one assist in that span.

Roy received a qualifying offer from the Ducks on Monday, NHL.com reports. As a result, he's likely to settle on a contract extension with the club ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
Roy made the big leap from AHL San Diego to the NHL last season, with his output at the highest level comprised of six goals and an assist over 25 games. The 25-year-old forward -- who was 2012's fourth-round (97th overall) draft pick -- doesn't have a lot to prove in the minors, and it's likely that Roy's agent will use the promise of more NHL playing time as a bargaining chip in the contract negotiations.

In an odd sequence of transactions, Roy was demoted to AHL San Diego on Monday only to be recalled the same night following Corey Perry's knee injury in the first period of a 3-2 home win over Carolina. The Anaheim brass extended the rookie an olive branch with a first-line gig and spot on the No. 1 power-play unit Thursday, and Roy might have earned a roster spot moving forward. History has proven Ryan Getzlaf is an elite driver of offense, so the speedy Northeastern alum is a player of interest. Roy has the potential to score his way into fantasy relevance, and he might currently be positioned to do so.

Roy scored a power-play goal and added an assist in a 3-2 win over St. Louis on Wednesday.
Roy also topped 17 minutes of ice time for the first time in his NHL career. He's found the going rough in 10 games since being promoted, but this was a major step in the right direction for the rookie. It's a good idea to watch him to see if he can build on this effort.

Roy was called up from AHL San Diego on Wednesday, Eric Stephens of The Orange County Register reports.
Ondrej Kase left Tuesday's game against the Kings having been on the receiving end of a huge hit from Kurtis MacDermid, so Roy was summoned to the parent club as an insurance option. Drafted by the Ducks with a 2012 fourth-round pick, the 24-year-old forward has yet to make his NHL debut but has looked terrific with four goals and seven assists for the AHL's Gulls this season.
