Top Seth Jarvis News

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Keeps rolling in postseason

Jarvis provided a primary assist in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Rangers to take Game 1.

This was a nice heads-up play from Jarvis, as he fed Sebastian Aho, who made a valiant effort to collect his own rebound at the doorstep for Carolina's lone regulation goal. Jarvis has been a key X-factor in his first crack at the playoffs; he's up to three goals and three assists through eight games.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Takes charge in Game 5 win

Jarvis scored two goals -- one on the power play -- on eight shots in Tuesday's 5-1 Game 5 win over the Bruins.

Playing in the biggest game of his young NHL career, the rookie was arguably the best player on the ice. Among Jarvis' game-high eight shots were an even-strength goal to make it 3-0 in the second and a power-play marker that extended the lead to 4-0 in the third. Jarvis also had two points in Game 1 but had been blanked in the three games since.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Logs two points in series opener

Jarvis recorded a goal and an assist in Monday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.

Jarvis opened the scoring in his first playoff contest, deflecting a shot from Jaccob Slavin past Linus Ullmark in the second period before adding an assist on Andrei Svechnikov's empty-netter to seal the victory. The 20-year-old winger came into the playoffs with some momentum after finishing the regular season on a seven-game point streak.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Special goal for rookie

Jarvis scored the game-winning goal Thursday in a 4-2 victory over the Jets.

It was the rookie's 15th goal of the season and it was special -- he is from Winnipeg. "That was awesome," Jarvis told reporters after the game. "That's definitely one of the highlights of my career so far, scoring against them. Being the game-winning goal makes it a little bit sweeter." Jarvis won a net-front battle with veteran defender Nate Schmidt and scored on a rebound that popped loose from a point shot. He's riding a modest three-game point streak (one goal, two assists).

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Top-10 rookie scorer

Jarvis scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win over the Rangers.

It was a beautiful goal. Sebastian Aho fed Jarvis from the point and he broke in, deked an lifted a backhander under Frederik Andersen's blocker arm to put the Canes up 2-1 at 1:02 of the second period. He had already set up Andrei Svechnikov late in the first for the Canes' opening goal. Jarvis has five points, including four helpers, in his last four games. He sits in a tie with Rem Pitlick for ninth on the NHL rookie scoring list with 33 points and eighth on the rookie goal list (14). Jarvis won't be considered for the Calder trophy, but he could end up being among the best of this year's rookie class in a few years.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Slings helper in win

Jarvis logged an assist, two hits and two PIM in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Ducks.

Jarvis helped out on Andrei Svechnikov's opening tally just 1:17 into the first period. The 20-year-old Jarvis has three assists in his last three games, and he's again seeing time on the top line at even strength. The rookie winger has put together a solid season with 31 points, 90 shots on net, 63 hits and a plus-10 rating through 59 appearances.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Bags two apples in win

Jarvis had two assists in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Sabres.

Jarvis skates on the top line, and he combined with Andrei Svechnikov to set up both of the goals scored by their third linemate Sebastian Aho. With his two points in this game, the 20-year-old Jarvis is up to an even 30 points through his first 57 games.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Multi-point night in OT loss

Jarvis had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Lightning.

Jarvis put the Hurricanes up 2-1 in the second, then assisted on Sebastian Aho's 30th goal of the season to go up 3-2 later in the middle frame. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, neither lead held up. The 2020 first-round pick is certainly a player to keep an eye on for the future, but Jarvis is starting to make a name for himself in the present with four multi-point performances in his last seven games.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Lights lamp twice in Saturday win

Jarvis scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blues.

The 20-year-old Jarvis doesn't get much attention in most Calder Trophy conversations, but he does currently sit 10th in this year's rookie scoring race with 12 goals and 26 points. Jarvis only averages about 13 minutes per game, but most of those minutes are spent on the Canes' first line with Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen, giving him significant fantasy value in deeper formats. Jarvis scored 98 points in his last season with the WHL Portland Winterhawks in 2019-20, so he's got a proven nose for the net. Once the Canes' expand his role a bit, look out. He's got future stud written all over him.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Two helpers in Tuesday's win

Jarvis picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Lightning.

He helped set up Martin Necas early in the second period for the game's opening goal, then tapped the puck over to Sebastian Aho for the game-winner midway through the third. Jarvis continues to tease his upside, but the 20-year-old rookie is far from consistent yet, and on the season he's compiled 10 goals and 24 points through 49 games.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Lights lamp twice Friday

Jarvis scored two goals in Friday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Capitals.

Making his return to the lineup after a three-game absence due to an undisclosed injury, Jarvis took advantage of some defensive miscues by the Caps to put together the first multi-goal game of his career. The rookie got a chance in the shootout and came up empty, however. Jarvis had appeared to hit the rookie wall prior to getting hurt, managing only two assists in 13 games since the beginning of February before Friday's outburst, and on the season he has 10 goals and 22 points through 47 contests.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Back at it

Jarvis (undisclosed) will return to the lineup for Friday night's game versus Washington, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Jarvis will likely return to a middle-six role and a spot on the second power-play unit following his three-game absence. The 20-year-old rookie has picked up 20 points through 46 contests this season.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Still out of action

Jarvis (undisclosed) won't play Thursday's versus the Maple Leafs, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Jarvis will miss a third straight game with the injury, though it's not considered to be a serious one. Derek Stepan remains in the lineup for the Hurricanes. Jarvis' next chance to return is Friday versus the Capitals.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Won't play Saturday

Jarvis (hip) won't play Saturday versus the Flyers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Jarvis was considered a game-time call versus Philadelphia, so he should be ready to return sooner rather than later. With Jarvis on the shelf, Derek Stepan will draw into the lineup against the Flyers.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Battling injury

Jarvis (undisclosed) was injured in Thursday's game versus the Avalanche, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour didn't have an update on the rookie winger's status after the game. Jarvis is mired in an 18-game goal drought, during which he's logged just three assists while slipping into a bottom-six role. He's day-to-day ahead of Saturday's game versus the Flyers.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Strong rookie season

Jarvis added an assist for his 18th point of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Devils.

The 19-year-old Winnipeg native wasn't on anyone's fantasy radar coming into this season, but he's currently sitting 10th in rookie scoring with eight goals and 10 assists in 32 games. He's still averaging just 14 minutes of ice time per game, but that includes 1:26 on the power play. What's more, he's spending most of his minutes skating on the first line with Sebastian Aho, so he should continue to see plenty of scoring opportunities. We still think he makes for a nice depth piece in medium to deeper fantasy formats.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Scoring run continues

Jarvis notched a goal for the second straight game Friday against the Rangers, giving him four goals and six points in his last eight games.

Don't look now, but despite an average TOI of just 13:51 this season, Jarvis is is putting up some impressive offensive totals, with 17 points in 28 games. If he continues to skate in a top-six role with the likes of Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen, we see good things happening for the 19-year-old rookie for the rest of the season.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Returns to practice Monday

Jarvis (COVID-19 protocols) was on the ice for practice Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Jarvis has racked up 11 points in 20 games this season, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him continuing to log minutes with the No. 2 power-play group. The 19-year-old winger forced his way into the Canes' lineup in late October and seems unlikely to find himself back in the AHL at any point this year.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Placed on COVID-19 list

Jarvis was placed in COVID-19 protocols Monday.

Jarvis and Sebastian Aho will stay behind in Vancouver to quarantine, likely ruling them both out for at least the next week's worth of games. The rookie forward has four points in his last six games, giving him 11 points through his first 20 career NHL contests. An update on his timeline could be available later this week.
