Avalanche's Calum Ritchie: Shipped back to junior team
Ritchie was reassigned to OHL Oshawa on Wednesday.
Ritchie scored a goal on 11 shots and added six hits over his first seven NHL games, but he also carried a minus-7 rating and saw his ice time slip in recent games. The 19-year-old forward remains one of the Avalanche's top prospects, but he can play in a maximum of two more NHL games without burning a year of his entry-level deal this season. As such, Ritchie is expected to spend the rest of the campaign in the junior ranks, including potentially representing Team Canada at the World Junior Championship this winter.

Ritchie scored a goal on five shots in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Islanders.
Ritchie opened the scoring and notched the first goal of his career at the NHL level just 61 seconds into the game Monday, as the 19-year-old winger took advantage of a perfect setup from Josh Manson to tap the puck home from very close range. This was his first point of the season.

Ritchie produced 28 goals and 80 points across 50 regular-season appearances with OHL Oshawa in 2023-24. He also earned eight tallies and 22 assists in 21 playoff contests. The Avalanche chose Ritchie with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old forward will probably be back with the Generals for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
