Mackey helped out on Lawson Crouse's goal in the second period. In the third, Mackey's frustration with the lopsided score led to him shoving Daniel Sprong after the Kraken's eighth goal. Both Mackey and goal-scorer Ryan Donato were given misconduct penalties in the ensuing fracas. Mackey has two points over his last three games and seven points, 39 PIM, 24 shots on net, 57 hits and 24 blocked shots through 26 outings between the Coyotes and the Flames this season.

Mackey tallied a goal in a 5-2 loss to Dallas on Friday.
Mackey gave Arizona a 2-1 lead with his marker late in the first period, but the Coyotes couldn't maintain their edge. It was his third marker and sixth point in 24 contests this season. Mackey has an assist in each of his first two games with the Coyotes after he was dealt from the Flames at the trade deadline. Mackey scored a pair of goals on three shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Blues.
Mackey was a little lucky on the first goal, as it bounced away from the net off his stick but hit his body and went in. The second goal was pure skill, as he unleashed a top-shelf rocket from the slot to cut the deficit to 3-2 at the time. It wasn't all good for the 26-year-old -- his turnover led to the Blues' fourth goal and ended the Flames' comeback hopes. Mackey had all of one assist in seven outings this season prior to this scoring burst. He also had one career goal in 16 contests. Mackey should continue to see third-pairing minutes while Chris Tanev (head) is unavailable.

Mackey played in his second straight game Wednesday, a 4-3 shootout loss to the Canucks.
Mackey has seen little action this season, and that doesn't change much even when he plays. He saw a season-low 8:23 of ice time in a close contest Wednesday -- it's clear he's on a very short leash. As long as Chris Tanev (head) is out of the lineup, Mackey should have a chance to play, though he shouldn't be expected to do much with it. He's at one assist, a minus-6 rating, eight hits, five blocked shots, five shots on goal and nine PIM through seven appearances.

The Flames are down two of their Opening Night defensemen, so Mackey has now played in three straight games. He earned his point of the season with a secondary assist on the first of Mikael Backlund's two goals in the game. While his short-term spot in the lineup is secure, Mackey is seeing very limited usage on the third pairing.
