  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Clears waivers, headed to AHL

Setoguchi has cleared waivers and was sent to AHL Ontario on Monday, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Setoguchi hasn't displayed much promise over 45 games with the Kings this season, serving as a healthy scratch in the two games prior to his placement on waivers. He will now head to the team's AHL affiliate in an attempt to get things back on track. The veteran winger could rejoin the Kings later in the season if he can prove capable with Ontario, but seems unlikely to make much of an impact on the fantasy front even if he makes his way back.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Put on waivers

Setoguchi was placed on waivers Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

The forward was a healthy scratch in his last two games, so he was starting to be phased out before being waived. If he clears waivers, he'll head to AHL Manchester.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Visits press box again Thursday

Setoguchi was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game Thursday.

With the Kings getting healthier, and Setoguchi registering just three assists and 21 shots through his previous 17 games, the writing was on the wall. The veteran winger hasn't moved the fantasy needle since he scored 13 goals and posted 27 points through 48 games during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Point drought extends to 10 games for Kings

Setoguchi's point drought extended to a season-high ten games after being held off the score sheet Monday.

The veteran winger has had a hard time carving out a meaningful role for the Kings this season and he doesn't get enough time on the power play to warrant much attention in most fantasy formats.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Pots two goals Saturday

Setoguchi scored a pair goals in Saturday's 5-0 rout of the Flames.

It was the first two goals of the year for the veteran, who took nearly 12 games to finally fine twine. Setoguchi has averaged 12:52 of ice time thus far in a depth role for the Kings and doesn't figure to play much of a fantasy factor unless he somehow turns back the clock to his 31-goal, 65-point season back in 2008-09 with the Sharks. Seeing as though he didn't set foot on NHL ice last year and was held scoreless in 12 contests the year before that in Calgary, we wouldn't be too optimistic at this point.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Secures one-way, two-way deal with Kings

Setoguchi signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Kings on Tuesday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Setoguchi is on the comeback trail, having not played in an NHL game since doing so with the Flames in November of 2014. He wasn't signed after joining the Maple Leafs on a PTO ahead of last season, but did have a stint with Davos HC of the Swiss-A league, notching 11 goals with 13 assists in 30 games. As noted by The Hockey News, Setoguchi had struggled with a drinking problem after getting sent to AHL Adirondack in 2014, so it's good to see that he's earned a new contract and the chance to continue his playing career. With Marian Gaborik on injured reserve with a foot injury and Tanner Pearson suspended, look for Setoguchi to start the season in the NHL.

  • Kings' Devin Setoguchi: Contract offer from Kings may be looming

Setoguchi could be nearing a contract with the Kings after skating alongside Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown at practice Monday, LA Kings Insider reports.

Setoguchi had been in camp on a tryout offer but it looks like he may open the season as a member of the Kings. The Kings could use some scoring punch to start the season following the injury to Marion Gaborik but it remains to be seen how much Setoguchi has left in the tank. He recorded a goal and an assist on six shots in five preseason games.

  • Devin Setoguchi: Signs PTO with Kings

Setoguchi signed a professional tryout offer with the Kings on Tuesday, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports reports.

Setoguchi is coming off a stint in the NLA and is trying to make a return to the NHL. He attempted the same thing last season, signing a professional tryout offer with the Maple Leafs, but was ultimately released. It's likely, unless very impressive in his tryout, that Setoguchi ends up in either the AHL or another foreign league this coming season.

  • Leafs Release Setoguchi

Setoguchi was released from his professional tryout contract on Sunday, the Canadien Press reports.Setoguchi wasn't able to make an impression on the Leafs during his tryout, and will head back to the open market. He played in just 12 games for the Flames last season, failing to record any points. Considering his struggles with the Flames last season and failure to gain any traction during his PTO with the Leafs, don't be surprised to see Setoguchi settle with an AHL contract to begin the season.
