Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Facing Sabres Tuesday
Fowler will guard the home crease in Tuesday's clash against the Sabres, per Marc Antoine Godin of Radio-Canada.
Fowler will look to stay hot after his 30-save shutout in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Red Wings. Entering Tuesday's matchup, the 21-year-old netminder has a 1-1-0 record, a 1.45 GAA and a .938 save percentage across 48 shots on net between two appearances. He should continue to see frequent appearances with Sam Montembeault (lower body) on injured reserve. Fowler will face off against a Sabres offense that has struggled to begin the new season with 2.67 goals per game, which makes him a solid start in fantasy.

Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Tending twine Wednesday
Dobes will defend the cage on the road against Washington on Wednesday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
Dobes will get the second night of the back-to-back while Jacob Fowler features versus the Sabres on Tuesday. In three outings this year, the 25-year-old Dobes is 1-1-1 with a 4.43 GAA and .856 save percentage. He should continue to see the bulk of the workload, though Fowler might get some more opportunities if Dobes can't get his GAA down.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Ruled out against Sabres
Matheson is dealing with a lower-body injury that will sideline him versus Buffalo on Tuesday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
Matheson has yet to find the back of the net through five games this season while registering just one helper despite averaging 24:09 of ice time. With the 32-year-old blueliner on the shelf, the Habs will get back to utilizing just six defensemen, which means Owen Beck will get into the lineup Tuesday. With the team heading into a back-to-back, Matheson may be hard-pressed to get into the lineup against the Caps on Wednesday.

Canadiens' Owen Beck: Summoned from AHL
Beck was recalled from AHL Laval on Monday.
Beck has one assist in four minor-league outings this campaign. He has notched one goal and one helper in 28 career NHL regular-season appearances with the Canadiens.

Canadiens' Luke Mittelstadt: Three-point effort for Laval
Mittelstadt scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Laval's 5-2 win over Hartford on Sunday.
Mittelstadt has seven points over four games this season, surpassing his total of five points in nine regular-season outings last year after he signed out of college. The 23-year-old defenseman likely won't be rushed to the NHL, but he's making a strong first impression with the Rocket. Expect Mittelstadt to be in contention for a roster spot with Montreal in 2027-28.

Canadiens' Alexander Zharovsky: Off to decent start in KHL season
Zharovsky has two goals and six assists over his first 14 games of the season for the KHL's Salavat Yulaev Ufa.
Zharovsky was a little sharper last year with 42 points over 59 regular-season games, but this isn't a bad start. The Canadiens prospect is still just 19 years old, so playing regularly in the KHL for the second year running is a strong accomplishment. He's in the last year of his contract, so it's possible he'll be in North America for 2027-28.

Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Records shutout in SO victory
Fowler stopped all 30 shots he faced in Saturday's 1-0 shootout win over the Red Wings.
Just like Daniil Tarasov, Fowler was perfect through regulation and overtime en route to posting a 30-save performance. The young netminder turned aside 20 even-strength shots and 10 power-play shots, and his excellent play allowed the Canadiens to earn the win in the shootout, as Zachary Bolduc eventually secured the victory with a sixth-round shootout goal. Fowler could continue to see playing time due to Sam Montembeault's lower-body injury.

Canadiens' Michael Hage: Playmaking on display Saturday
Hage notched four assists in the University of Michigan's 7-2 win over the University of Alaska-Anchorage on Saturday.
Hage has racked up three goals and nine assists four games games this season. He's always leaned on the playmaking side, and he's off to a great start in his junior year of college. With the Wolverines' offense humming along, expect Hage to be a frequent contributor on offense all season.

Montembeault (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, according to the NHL media site.
Montembeault sat out Thursday's 5-2 loss to Nashville. He hasn't played yet this season and is expected to miss about 10-14 days. Jacob Fowler was recalled from AHL Laval on Wednesday to replace Montembeault on Montreal's depth chart.

Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Surfaces on IR

Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Remains unavailable
Kapanen (lower body) won't play against Detroit on Saturday, per Marco D'Amico of BPM Sports.
Kapanen remains day-to-day, but he will miss his fifth straight game to begin the 2026-27 campaign. He produced 22 goals, 37 points, 131 shots on net and 68 blocked shots in 82 games during the 2025-26 regular season.

Canadiens' Florian Xhekaj: Unavailable Saturday
Xhekaj (undisclosed) won't play against Detroit on Saturday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Xhekaj missed Montreal's last two practices and will sit out at least one game. He hasn't earned a point in two appearances this season, but he has collected two shots on goal, three hits and one blocked shot. Kaiden Guhle (groin) will replace Xhekaj in Saturday's lineup against the Red Wings, as the Canadiens will go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Cleared to make season debut
Guhle (groin) will make his 2026-27 regular-season debut against the Red Wings on Saturday.
Guhle has been given the green light to return to game action after undergoing a minor adductor muscle surgery in the summer. The 24-year-old blueliner is coming off a season where his offensive numbers declined, posting just two goals and 11 points across 39 regular-season games in 2025-26. However, he remained a factor in stats without the puck, which should keep him relevant in deep fantasy leagues that value category coverage. He'll likely slot into a third-line pairing for Saturday's clash.

Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Tending twine Saturday
Fowler will guard the home crease in Saturday's clash with the Red Wings, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Fowler will have the opportunity to tidy things up Saturday after he yielded three goals in Thursday's 5-2 loss to Nashville. Montreal likely wants to see an extended showcase of what the 21-year-old netminder can currently provide to the team, as he was called up from AHL Laval due to Sam Montembeault's lower body injury. Fowler proved that he can be effective at the NHL level last season, where he compiled a 9-6-2 record, a 2.43 GAA, a .908 save percentage and a shutout across 17 regular-season appearances. Saturday's clash is an opportune spot for the young netminder to get back on track, as the Red Wings have won just one of their four contests to open the new season. Therefore, Fowler is one of the top streaming options between the pipes ahead of Saturday's busy slate of games.

Canadiens' Alexis Cournoyer: Earns shutout Friday
Cournoyer posted a 13-save shutout in the University of Wisconsin's 4-0 win over Minnesota State University.
Cournoyer has won both of his games with Wisconsin to start the year, and this was his first shutout. He transferred from Cornell University over the summer after going 18-10-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .915 save percentage in 28 games as a freshman last year. Cournoyer is a Canadiens prospect -- he was selected in the fifth round in 2025.

Canadiens' Logan Sawyer: Trio of assists in win
Sawyer logged three assists in Providence College's 6-2 win over St. Lawrence University on Friday.
Sawyer took a step up last year with 28 points in 35 games during his sophomore season. He's off to a great start in his junior year. The Canadiens prospect has decent offensive skills but still needs to work on rounding out the rest of his game while in college.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Ruled out for 10-14 days
Montembeault (lower body) is expected to be sidelined for 10-14 days, J-F Chaumont of NHL.com reports Friday.
Montembeault should be expected to miss at least the next four games at a minimum. Even when healthy, Montembeault is far from a lock to play regularly, with Jakub Dobes firmly cemented as the No. 1 option while Jacob Fowler slots into the backup role.
