Sabres' Justin Danforth: Moves to injured reserve
Danforth (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, per the NHL media site.
Danforth's move to IR allowed the Sabres to activate Sam Carrick (middle body) ahead of Thursday's game versus the Ducks. Danforth remains without a clear timeline to return to action. He will miss his fourth straight game Thursday and will be eligible to return whenever ready, as long as he doesn't later end up on long-term injured reserve.

Sabres' Sam Carrick: Slated to return Thursday
Carrick (middle body) is expected to be activated off injured reserve ahead of Thursday's game against the Ducks.
Carrick spent the past week on injured reserve due to a mid-body injury, but he centered the fourth line during Thursday's morning skate and should be able to return to action against Anaheim. Across his four regular-season appearances this year, Carrick has been held scoreless with nine hits and four PIM while averaging 7:23 of ice time.

Helenius has returned to Buffalo to be evaluated for an upper-body injury, the team announced Thursday.
Helenius won't play in Anaheim on Thursday or Saturday's game in Los Angeles. The Sabres will then return home to host Ottawa on Wednesday. Helenius has a goal, three points, two PIM and 11 hits in 11 outings with the Sabres in 2026-27. Helenius' exit coincides with Sam Carrick's (upper body) expected return.

Power logged two assists, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.
Power has three helpers over his last two contests. The 23-year-old continues to look like a new version of himself this year with 11 points across 12 outings. He's added 16 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating. Power is firmly in a top-four role, and while Rasmus Dahlin has far more all-around potential, Power's offense makes him a worthy addition to fantasy squads.

Sabres' Zach Benson: Finds twine in win
Benson scored an empty-net goal on five shots, added two PIM, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.
This was Benson's first goal of the season. The 21-year-old has added seven assists, 26 shots on net, 15 hits, 10 PIM and a plus-7 rating while seeing steady top-six minutes. Benson has plenty of talent, and his confidence should be up after seeing rubber meet twine to close out this contest. If he gets hot, there won't be many more chances for fantasy managers to buy low on him.

Sabres' Olen Zellweger: Pots goal in close win
Zellweger scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.
Zellweger broke the ice 50 seconds into the second period, and his tally held up as the game-winner. The 23-year-old defenseman is up to three goals, two assists, 26 shots on net, eight blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-2 rating over 11 appearances. Zellweger is seeing steady top-four minutes for the Sabres and is on pace to breeze past the 22-point effort he had in 76 regular-season games for the Ducks last year.

Sabres' Colten Ellis: Posts shutout in San Jose
Ellis recorded a 23-save shutout in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.
Ellis hadn't played in the last five games, and given Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's inconsistency in that stretch, it's fair to question why Ellis didn't get a chance earlier. The 26-year-old netminder is now 2-1-0 with eight goals allowed on 82 shots over four games this season. The Sabres have two more stops on their road trip -- Thursday in Anaheim and Saturday in Los Angeles. It seems likely Ellis will get another look before the team heads back to Buffalo.

Ellis will defend the road net against San Jose on Tuesday, according to Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.
In his last outing, Ellis logged only 26:26 of playing time before being pulled against Florida on Oct. 12. He has surrendered eight goals on 59 shots in three appearances during his 1-1-0 start to the 2026-27 campaign. San Jose (6-5-1) is tied for 17th in the league this season with 3.00 goals per game.

Kulich missed Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Washington and won't join his teammates for the California portion of Buffalo's road trip. The Sabres visit San Jose on Tuesday, Anaheim on Thursday and Los Angeles on Saturday. It's unclear when Kulich will be available to return to the lineup. This was Dahlin's second game back after missing three due to an upper-body injury. The defenseman has played significantly in all the games where he hasn't gotten hurt, topping 25 minutes of ice time on seven occasions this season. The Sabres are leaning heavily on their top four, and Dahlin leads the way. He has five points, 26 shots on net, 12 hits, 15 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over eight appearances.

He showed potential with a 52-point regular season in 2025-26, so there's a reason to be optimistic if Doan can get his offense on track and work his way back into the top six.

Quinn has four goals and three assists during a four-game point streak. While this is just a hot stretch for now, it's looking like the 25-year-old could put together a breakout season. He's up to six goals, five helpers, 31 shots on net, nine hits, 11 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 11 appearances. He's shooting 19.4 percent, which will come down, but Quinn has often been better as a playmaker in his NHL time.

Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Takes overtime loss
Luukkonen stopped 30 of 34 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Capitals.
The Sabres jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but Luukkonen gave it all back almost as fast. He's now winless in his last three starts, allowing 11 goals on 95 shots in that span. For the season, the 27-year-old has a 3-3-3 record with a 3.56 GAA and an .866 save percentage across nine games. Luukkonen remains the Sabres' top option in goal ahead of Colten Ellis, but with a tough road trip through California for the week ahead, Luukkonen may best be left on the bench in fantasy.
