Beavers went 2-for-9 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored across both games of Friday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Beavers launched his first career grand slam in Game 1 before adding a solo shot in the ninth inning of Game 2. The 25-year-old is trying to put an exclamation point on what has been a forgettable September, as he entered Friday hitting just .162 over 19 games in the month. Overall, he's slashing .228/.307/.373 with nine homers, 44 RBI, 41 runs scored and five steals across 363 plate appearances in his first full major-league campaign.

Simpson was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies with an apparent foot injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Simpson initially remained in the game after fouling a ball after fouling a ball off his foot in the sixth inning but was eventually pulled in the seventh. He'll likely undergo imaging to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and the Rays should provide an update on his status in the near future.

Nimmo will start in right field and bat leadoff Friday against the Twins.

Nimmo will be making his first start atop the order since May 11 after primarily batting fourth or fifth in recent months, as manager Skip Schumaker tries to jumpstart the offense and beat out the Astros for the AL West crown. The 33-year-old Nimmo hit .276/.358/.414 out of the leadoff spot earlier this season before shifting down the lineup.

Bateman (hip) is expected to return to the starting lineup Saturday against the Reds, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bateman left Monday's game with right hip discomfort and has not seen the field since, but he is making progress and it sounds like he will play again this weekend, even with the Blue Jays now officially out of playoff contention. Depending on how Bateman responds to pregame work Friday, he could be available off the bench for the series opener against Cincinnati.

Rafaela remains out of the starting lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

Right hamstring tightness forced Rafaela from Wednesday's game -- his very first game back from a right quad strain -- though he was back in the lineup Thursday. He may be dealing with some lingering effects of the hamstring injury. It's also possible the Red Sox are just playing it safe with their playoff seeding now set.

Santander (shoulder) will not be returning to the Blue Jays this season, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Santander had been working his way back from left shoulder surgery, advancing to a rehab assignment earlier this month. However, he had a back issue crop up during his assignment, and the Blue Jays ultimately decided to have him get an early start on his offseason training. Santander did not make a single big-league appearance this season and has totaled just 54 regular-season games played in his first two years with Toronto.

Bateman (hip) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

Bateman hasn't played since Monday due to right hip discomfort, but his MRI was negative and the Blue Jays have not officially closed the door on him playing again this season. Charles McAdoo will get a turn in the leadoff spot Friday against left-hander Nick Lodolo.

Clark will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's contest against the Pirates.

It's the first time in his young big-league career that Clark has batted higher than sixth. The rookie outfielder has not shown signs of slowing down late in the season, slashing .353/.458/.500 with one home run, four stolen bases and an 11:14 BB:K over 20 September games.

The Tigers announced Sept. 18 that Meadows (arm) has been taking part in a hitting progression at the team's spring training facility in Florida, MLB.com reports.

Meadows doesn't appear to be a realistic candidate to return from the 60-day injured list for the Tigers' final series of the season, but he could be in store for something close to a normal offseason. The 26-year-old outfielder slashed just .250/.308/.333 with three stolen bases, three runs and two RBI over 39 plate appearances with Detroit before hitting the shelf after sustaining a fractured left radius bone in his left arm and concussion during an on-field collision April 9.

Bellinger is absent from the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Bellinger will rest during Friday's afternoon contest, but he will likely be back in there for the second game of the twin bill. Heliot Ramos is handling left field for the Yankees in the first game.
