  • Giants' Victor Bericoto: Starts up hitting, throwing progression

The Giants announced Tuesday that Bericoto (knee) has begun a hitting and throwing progression and will start running later this week, MLB.com reports.

On the shelf since Aug. 24 due to a right knee bone bruise, Bericoto is eligible for activation at any point, but he looks like he still has a few more checkpoints to hit in his rehab program before rejoining the Giants. Bericoto appeared to have faded into the short side of a platoon in left field prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Might be ready for rehab next week

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Santander (shoulder) has been facing live pitching this week at the team's spring training complex in Florida and could be ready for a rehab assignment next week, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Santander had surgery in February to repair his left shoulder labrum, but he's given himself a chance to return before the end of this month with his recent progress. Still, the odds are long that he's able to make it back in the coming weeks and contribute offensively following an extended layoff.

  • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Exiting starting nine

Smith is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the White Sox.

Smith had started the last four contests for the Astros, but this will be the third time he's been out of the lineup the last five times his team has faced a righty. LaMonte Wade and Taylor Trammell will be in the corner outfield spots in the series finale.

  • Pirates' Esmerlyn Valdez: Getting breather Thursday

Valdez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.

After going 1-for-9 with six strikeouts in the first two games of the series, Valdez will take a seat in Thursday's finale. Bryan Reynolds has shifted over to right field, and Jake Mangum will cover left field for the Pirates.

  • Henry Bolte CF | ATH

Athletics' Henry Bolte: Powers rout with two homers

Bolte went 3-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, four RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Rangers.

The rookie outfielder wasn't getting fooled by lefty Cody Bradford, touching him up for two-run blasts in the third and fourth innings as the A's put the game away early. Bolte snapped a 16-game power drought with the performance, but he stayed productive during that span with a .299/.373/.358 slash line. Through his first 375 big-league plate appearances, Bolte is batting .274 with a respectable .739 OPS, eight homers, 15 steals, 30 RBI and 41 runs.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Makes history in Wednesday's win

Acuna went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-0 rout of the Nationals.

The seventh-inning long ball off Max Kranick was Acuna's 14th of the season, while the steal was his 20th, but it's the homer that put his name in the record books as the 200th of his career. The star outfielder reached that mark in just 904 games, and combined with his 225 stolen bases, he became the fastest player in MLB history to join the 200-200 club, surpassing Alfonso Soriano's record of 929 games. Per Ian Nicholas Quillen of MLB.com, the next four names on the list are just as impressive -- Eric Davis (1,053 games), Bobby Bonds (1,065), Sammy Sosa (1,094) and Barry Bonds (1,094). Acuna has had a tough, injury-plagued season overall, but he's catching fire for the stretch run, batting .455 (10-for-22) over his last six contests with a homer, two steals, four RBI and six runs.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Reds' Dane Myers: Three hits in Wednesday's win

Myers went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Padres.

Getting the start in center field and batting sixth even with right-hander Casey Mize on the mound for San Diego, Myers delivered his second three-hit effort in his last six games. The 30-year-old is making a case for more playing time as the Reds try to stay in the NL wild-card race, and over his last 15 contests he's slashing .308/.368/.500 with three home runs, one steal, four RBI and eight runs.

  • J.J. Bleday LF | CIN

Reds' JJ Bleday: Big day in Wednesday's win

Bleday went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Padres.

The 28-year-old outfielder put together his best performance since banging out four hits in Arizona on Aug. 22, erasing a rough stretch in which he'd hit just .129 (4-for-31) with zero extra-base hits during the nine games between those offensive eruptions. Bleday's feast-or-famine nature limits his fantasy utility and underscores his .222/.333/.437 slash line on the year, but he's set a new career high in 2026 with 22 homers, and he's five RBI shy of the career-best 60 he recorded in 2024 with the A's.

  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Plays all nine innings

Carroll started in right field and went 0-for-3 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Phillies.

Carroll, who experienced lower-back discomfort Tuesday but stayed in that game, was back in the starting lineup a day later. Not only did he play nine innings in the field, but Carroll also swiped his 21st base of the season. With the team not on Thursday's MLB slate, the back will get rest before the Diamondbacks resume play Friday against the Astros in Houston.

  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Dodgers' Kyle Tucker: Notches 10th steal

Tucker went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-6, extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Tucker has gone 11 games without a multi-hit effort, but he has three steals and an 8:3 BB:K in that span. The outfielder is up to 10 steals on the year, though that's a slight disappointment for a player who had logged at least 25 steals in three of the previous four campaigns. He's batting just .227 with a .679 OPS, 11 home runs, 58 RBI, 71 runs scored, 20 doubles and three triples over 131 contests in his first year with the Dodgers.
