  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Opens rehab assignment

Jung (calf) went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI for Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Jung opened a rehab assignment with the Express and played all nine innings as the designated hitter. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that there's a plan for Jung's rehab but that could change depending on how quickly he responds to activity. With 17 games left in the regular season and Texas 1.5 games back of a wild-card spot, the Rangers might be best served to activate Jung sooner rather than later.

  • Daulton Varsho CF | HOU

Astros' Daulton Varsho: Powers Astros in win

Varsho went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.

Varsho extended Houston's lead to 6-3 in the seventh inning with his 11th homer of the year, a 406-foot blast off lefty Brooks Raley. The outfielder also logged his first multi-hit game since Aug. 26 -- Varsho had gone just 3-for-28 (.107) in eight contests prior to Tuesday. Since joining the Astros at the trade deadline, Varsho is slashing .191/.256/.348 with four homers, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and three steals across 31 games.

  • Angel Martinez LF | CLE

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Makes fourth straight start

Martinez started in right field and went 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Baltimore.

Martinez tripled and scored in the second inning and then singled and scored in the seventh. He made a fourth consecutive start, as Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt navigates around an injury to Chase DeLauter (wrist), who has missed the last four contests. Martinez has rebounded nicely from a three-month slumber that saw him slash .193/.228/.360 over 43 games between May and July. The outfielder is batting .303 (30-for-99) with seven doubles, one triple, three home runs and 17 RBI over 30 games since Aug. 1.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

    Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Heating up

Bazzana went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Orioles.

Bazzana launched a three-run shot in the second inning as the Guardians raced to a 6-0 lead after three innings. The rookie has hit safely in four consecutive games, going 7-for-14 with two doubles, two homers and eight RBI during that run. Bazzana's bat is showing life once again after a languid August (.566 OPS).

  • Bryce Miller SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryce Miller: Another short outing

Miller (4-9) took the loss Tuesday, surrendering four runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings against Texas. He struck out six.

The right-hander was scored upon in three of the four frames he pitched as he remains without a win in his past 10 outings. Miller has a 6.89 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 39:24 K:BB across 49.2 innings during that span and has also failed to last five frames in any of his past four starts. A road matchup versus the A's at hitter-friendly Sacramento is likely on tap for his next turn through the rotation.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Rangers' Cal Quantrill: Delivers another quality start

Quantrill (8-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over six innings against the Mariners. He struck out four.

It's the fifth straight quality start for Quantrill, who has gone 4-1 with a 1.69 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB across 32 innings during that span. He kept Seattle in check for most of Tuesday's outing, with Lazaro Montes' three-run homer accounting for all the damage against him. Quantrill next lines up to face the Diamondbacks on the road this weekend.

  • Jack Perkins RP | ATH

Athletics' Jack Perkins: Handed 11th loss

Perkins (3-11) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on seven hits and no walks over five-plus innings in a 4-2 defeat against Toronto. He struck out three.

The right-hander was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday but was quickly recalled and ended up retaining his rotation spot due to J.T. Ginn's (elbow) move to the injured list. Perkins limited Toronto to two runs through five frames, but he returned for the sixth and allowed the first two batters to reach before being pulled, with both of them coming around to score. Despite the lackluster result, it's notable that the 26-year-old didn't issue any free passes given that he issued at least four walks in each of his previous three outings. Assuming Perkins and his 6.50 ERA though 98.1 innings stick in the rotation, he tentatively lines up to face the Rays on the road next week.

  • Spencer Miles RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Spencer Miles: Notches second save

Miles picked up the save Tuesday against the A's, striking out three over two perfect innings.

Blue Jays closer Louis Varland threw 24 pitches in Monday's series opener, so it was Miles that stayed in for the ninth inning Tuesday after firing a clean eighth. It's the second save of the season for the rookie right-hander, who has made 45 appearances (six starts) this year and has excelled as a versatile arm with a 2.77 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 81:21 K:BB over 87.2 innings. Miles hasn't given up a run in his past 12 outings and has allowed just seven hits and one walk during that span.

  • Jose Soriano SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Picks up 12th victory

Soriano (12-7) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings against the Athletics. He struck out three.

The right-hander certainly wasn't at his most dominant Tuesday while generating just four swinging strikes and serving up two homers, but those two solo shots were the only runs he allowed. Soriano has struck out three or fewer batters in four of his seven starts since being acquired by Toronto, though his overall numbers since the trade are decent with a 4.05 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 40 innings.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Yankees' David Bednar: Earns one-out save Tuesday

Bednar earned the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rockies, striking out the only batter he faced in the ninth inning.

Tim Hill was initially brought out for the ninth inning to protect a 5-1 lead, but he has removed from the game after giving up a two-run home run to Hunter Goodman. That prompted the Yankees to turn to Bednar, who successfully closed things out by striking out Mickey Moniak on three pitches. It was Bednar's first save since Aug. 28 and 32nd of the season, which is seventh most in the majors. He has a 2.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 70:18 K:BB over 61.2 innings in 2026.
