  • Rockies' Brennan Bernardino: Secures second save of season

Bernardino earned the save Saturday against the Mariners after allowing one hit while striking out two over a scoreless ninth inning.

Bernardino was called upon to protect a two-run lead after Colorado's four-run seventh turned a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 advantage. The left-hander allowed a one-out single, but he left Michael Arroyo stranded to earn his second save of the season, tossing 12 of his 19 pitches for strikes. Following Saturday's scoreless appearance, Bernardino has a 2.89 ERA across 72 appearances this season. He got the save opportunity with Jordan Romano unavailable after he'd pitched Thursday and Friday.

  • Juan Mejia RP | COL

Rockies' Juan Mejia: Earns win in relief Saturday

Mejia (4-6) earned the win in relief Saturday against the Mariners after allowing one hit while striking out two over two scoreless innings.

Mejia entered the game in the sixth inning and allowed just one of the seven batters he faced to reach base, staying in long enough to allow the Rockies to erase a deficit with a four-run seventh frame. Mejia has given up one or fewer earned runs in six straight relief appearances, posting a 2.16 ERA with an 11.9 K/9 and a 11:4 K:BB in 8.1 frames over that stretch.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Rockies' Jose Quintana: Allows three runs in return

Quintana didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Mariners after allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings.

The veteran left-hander made his first start since May 24 after missing nearly four months with a sprained pitching elbow. Quintana surrendered a two-run homer to Cal Raleigh in the first inning and a solo shot to Randy Arozarena in the third but otherwise kept Seattle off the board. Quintana exited with Colorado trailing 3-1, and the Rockies' bullpen followed with five scoreless frames as the team made a comeback. He's expected to make his final start of the season Friday on the road against the White Sox.

  • Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Takes loss in extras Saturday

Graceffo (8-2) took the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out one over one inning in Saturday's 8-5 extra-innings loss to the Nationals.

Graceffo entered the game in the 11th and quickly loaded the bases after allowing a single to Keibert Ruiz and walking Nasim Nunez. He never recovered and allowed four runs before escaping, and his offense couldn't respond in the bottom of the frame. This rough outing snapped a dominant stretch for Graceffo, who had gone 10 straight outings and 16.2 innings without allowing an earned run prior to Saturday.

  • Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: No-decision Saturday

McGreevy didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Nationals after allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one over four innings.

McGreevy fell behind immediately, allowing a leadoff single to James Wood before Daylen Lile launched a two-run homer to center field. The right-hander kept Washington scoreless over his next three frames, but he had to labor through them and was lifted after only four innings after throwing 88 pitches (56 strikes). McGreevy, who has a 3.84 ERA across 30 starts and 164 innings in 2026 and has not taken a loss since July 28, is expected to make his final start of the season Friday on the road against the Brewers.

  • William Dion RP | WAS

Nationals' Will Dion: Notches first career save

Dion earned his first career save after retiring the only batter he faced in Saturday's 8-5 extra-innings win over the Cardinals.

Dion inherited a bases-loaded jam with two outs in the bottom of the 11th and needed just two pitches to get the job done, retiring Leo Bernal on a flyout to right field to secure the win. This was Dion's first major-league save, although he hasn't been the Nationals' most reliable reliever lately, giving up multiple earned runs in three of his last seven appearances dating back to Aug. 26. Still, he owns a 3.92 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB in 20.2 innings over his last 10 outings.

  • Riley Cornelio RP | WAS

Nationals' Riley Cornelio: Earns relief win in extras Saturday

Cornelio (3-2) earned the win in extra innings against the Cardinals on Saturday after allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two over 1.2 innings.

Cornelio entered the game in the 10th inning and allowed the automatic runner to score on Masyn Winn's game-tying single. He returned in the 11th with a four-run cushion but again allowed the automatic runner to score, this time on a JJ Wetherholt single. Cornelio loaded the bases with no outs, then struck out Ivan Herrera and Jordan Walker before making way for Will Dion, who recorded the final out and earned the save. Since returning to the majors as part of September roster expansion. Cornelio has a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB in 12 innings over five appearances.

  • Erik Tolman RP | WAS

Nationals' Erik Tolman: Charged with blown save

Tolman was charged with a blown save after allowing one run on three hits while striking out one over one-third of an inning in Saturday's 8-5 extra-innings win over the Cardinals.

Tolman entered the ninth with Washington protecting a 3-2 lead but couldn't close it out. Nathan Church opened the inning with a double before Pedro Pages singled him home to tie the game, and Tolman departed after allowing another single to Jose Fermin. The left-hander was ultimately charged with his second blown save of the season, though Washington recovered to win in 11 innings. This was the fourth time Tolman has given up runs in his 11 big-league outings in 2026. He has a 3.09 ERA with a 12:5 K:BB in 11.2 innings.

  • Giants' Matt Wilkinson: Drawing start Sunday

Wilkinson is slated to start Sunday's game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Wilkinson had made his previous two appearances out of the bullpen, but he'll draw the start in Sunday's series finale after the Giants elected to expand their rotation to six men this week. The rookie left-hander made a six-inning start as recently as Aug. 29 and has tossed at least 26 pitches in all three of his appearances thus far in September, so he should be capable of offering the Giants decent length.

  • Andrew Alvarez SP | WAS

Nationals' Andrew Alvarez: Fires six scoreless innings

Alvarez didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Cardinals after allowing five hits and a walk while striking out eight over six scoreless innings.

Alvarez delivered one of his strongest outings of the season and matched his season-high output in strikeouts, which was set in his previous start Sept. 12 against the Angels. The left-hander exited with Washington ahead 3-0, but the bullpen surrendered the lead before the Nationals eventually prevailed 8-5 in 11 innings. Alvarez threw 61 of 92 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 3.17. He hasn't given up more than three earned runs in any of his 15 outings since the All-Star break, posting a 3.58 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with a 65:29 K:BB across 60.1 innings over that stretch. Alvarez is expected to make his final start of the regular season Friday at home against the Mets.
