Eagles' LeGarrette Blount: Still not up to speed

Blount has looked slow during practices and preseason games, Eliot Shorr-Parks of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Blount was viewed as a somewhat questionable fit in Eagles coach Doug Pederson's system after signing a one-year deal this offseason, and the running back has done nothing to quiet those concerns this preseason while averaging 2.8 yards on 13 carries. His struggles have opened the door for Wendell Smallwood to challenge for a significant portion of the rushing workload, and there's even been some speculation that Blount's roster spot isn't safe. Pederson suggested otherwise last Tuesday, saying he still expects Blount to be a big part of the Philadelphia offense. It's possible Pederson could change his mind if undrafted 220-pound rookie Corey Clement continues to impress in Thursday's preseason finale against the Jets.
