Cates was loaned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Cates was a healthy scratch Saturday against Nashville and likely would have been in the press box again Sunday versus San Jose. He has played in three games with the Flyers this season, but Cates has seemingly lost his roster spot to waiver wire pickup Lukas Sedlak at this time.
