Alexander Alexeyev D | PIT
Penguins' Alexander Alexeyev: Inks one-year deal
Alexeyev signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Penguins on Wednesday, according to Wes Crosby of NHL.com.
Alexeyev had no points, a plus-2 rating, seven shots, nine hits and 14 blocks across eight regular-season appearances with the Capitals in 2024-25. He did spend the 2024-25 campaign primarily with Washington, and his lack of appearances can mostly be attributed to how often he was a healthy scratch. Alexeyev might find himself in a similar spot with Pittsburgh by making the team but not drawing into the lineup often.

Kaedan Korczak D | LV
Golden Knights' Kaedan Korczak: Re-ups with club
Korczak inked a four-year, $13 million contract extension with Vegas on Wednesday.
While a significant bump in pay, Korczak's extension will still land him as the fifth highest-paid defenseman on the Golden Knights -- though Alex Pietrangelo's (hip) contract will be placed on LTIR. The 24-year-old Korcazk certainly isn't being paid for his offensive upside, having generated 10 points in 40 regular-season tilts last season. Still, if he can force his way into the NHL roster full-time, that pace would have him reaching the 20-point threshold in 2025-26.

Pierre-Olivier Joseph D | VAN
Canucks' Pierre-Olivier Joseph: Signs with Vancouver
Joseph (upper body) signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.
Joseph made 47 regular-season appearances between Pittsburgh and St. Louis last year, recording three assists, 45 PIM, 36 hits and 36 blocked shots while averaging 15:16 of ice time. He missed the final 20 games of the regular season due to an upper-body injury, and it's unclear how the issue will impact his availability for the 2025-26 campaign. However, once he's healthy, the 26-year-old should have a chance to compete for a role on the Canucks' blue line.

Marc Del Gaizo D | NSH
Canadiens' Marc Del Gaizo: Signs one-year deal
Del Gaizo signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canadiens on Wednesday.
Del Gaizo finished the 2024-25 regular season with eight goals and 12 points in 30 appearances with AHL Milwaukee as well as two goals and nine points across 46 outings with Nashville. He also had a goal and five points in 10 playoff appearances with Milwaukee. The 25-year-old defenseman will probably begin this coming season in the minors, but he might be the first blueliner summoned in the event of an injury.

Samuel Bolduc D | NYI
Kings' Samuel Bolduc: Agrees to two-way deal
Bolduc signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Kings on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.
Bolduc had six goals and 35 points across 69 regular-season appearances with AHL Bridgeport in 2024-25. He also appeared in one game with the Islanders last season, but Bolduc logged just 5:56 of ice time in that outing. The 24-year-old is expected to start this coming season in the minors.

Louie Belpedio D | PHI
Capitals' Louis Belpedio: Lands two-year contract
Belpedio signed a two-year, two-way contract with Washington on Wednesday, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Belpedio had five goals, 28 points and 88 PIM across 66 regular-season appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2024-25. The 29-year-old defenseman is projected to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
-
Matt Kiersted D | FLA
Wild's Matt Kiersted: Secures two-year deal
Kiersted signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Wild on Wednesday.
Kiersted had a goal, 29 points and 40 PIM across 64 outings with AHL Charlotte as well as an assist and two PIM in two appearances with Florida during the 2024-25 regular season. He contributed another eight assists in 13 playoff outings with Charlotte. The 27-year-old defenseman is expected to start 2025-26 in the minors, but he might get some time in the NHL depending on Minnesota's injury situation.

Nick Leddy D | SJ
Blues' Nick Leddy: On waivers
Leddy was put on waivers by St. Louis on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
The buyout window is closed, so Leddy is just on regular waivers. Presumably, St. Louis is doing this to see if there's a team willing to grab the final season of Leddy's four-year, $16 million contract. The 34-year-old defenseman had two goals, five points, five hits and 26 blocks across 31 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He missed most of the campaign due to a lower-body injury and averaged 18:40 of ice time during the regular season, which marked his first time finishing with less than 20 minutes per game since 2013-14. Perhaps Leddy can slot into a different team's top four now that he's healthy.
-
Philip Kemp D | EDM
Penguins' Philip Kemp: Inks two-year deal
Kemp agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with Pittsburgh on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.
Kemp has played in just one NHL game in his career, and that came back in 2023-24, when he was with the Oilers. The blueliner doesn't offer a ton of offensive upside -- he notched 12 points in 56 regular-season clashes with AHL Bakersfield last season -- but he is a decent depth piece. While a path to NHL minutes is probably easier with the Pens, Kemp probably will still play the majority of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors.

Johnathan Kovacevic D | NJ
Devils' Johnny Kovacevic: Will miss start of regular season
Kovacevic (knee) won't be available for Opening Night, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports Wednesday.
Although it's now known that Kovacevic will miss at least some of the 2025-26 regular season while he recovers from the knee surgery he underwent May 8, there isn't a more specific timetable for his return. The 28-year-old had a goal, 17 points, 72 PIM, 76 shots, 102 hits and 99 blocks across 81 regular-season outings with New Jersey in 2024-25. Kovacevic's absence increases the chances that Simon Nemec will feature on the Devils' Opening Night roster.
