The Giants and Diamondbacks are wrapping up their series on Thursday afternoon (GameTracker), and Hunter Pence gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single.

This was no normal RBI single though. Pence literally threw his bat at the ball -- as in there was zero contact between his hands and the bat when it hit the ball -- and hit a ground ball back up the middle that deflected off the second base bag and away from the infielders. To the action footage:

I feel like that is something only Hunter Pence could manage to do. If another player did that, I'd be amazed. But because Pence did it, it's kind of like "oh, well, yeah it's Hunter Pence."
