Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is out of the team's starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals due to an infection in his right foot, the Washington Post reports.

Werth reportedly sustained the infection earlier in the week while the team was in Chicago playing the Cubs, and it has worsened rather than improved. He went 2 for 13 with one home run in the four-game series against the Cubs before going 1 for 5 with another home run in the series opener against the Royals Friday.

Werth has hit .326/.404/.529 with 19 home runs, 58 RBI and seven stolen bases in 344 at-bats.
