Mets GM Sandy Alderson stated Tuesday the club has "no need" to acquire starting pitching, Adam Rubin of ESPN reported. Fixing the bullpen will be the priority for the Mets according to Alderson.

The logic is not diffcult to follow. The Mets rotation currently ranks seventh in MLB in ERA and fifth in FIP. The bullpen, on the other hand, could be considered the league's worst. Its 4.90 ERA is last in baseball, with a 4.09 FIP just 23rd.

The Mets are dealing with injuries in the starting rotation, with Miguel Batista remaining on track to start Saturday. Matt Harvey remains an option down the road, but fellow top prospect Zack Wheeler is not. Alderson said Wheeler and his 2.39 ERA at Double-A Bighamton will not see the major leagues this season, although the Mets do plan to advance him to Triple-A "soon."
