Dodgers' Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Gets minors deal from Dodgers
Bibens-Dirkx signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
The 36-year-old right-hander will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City and is expected to work out of the bullpen. Bibens-Dirkx previously made 37 appearances (12 starts) for the Rangers between the 2017 and 2018 seasons, posting a 5.27 ERA.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Released by Texas
The Rangers released Bibens-Dirkx on Monday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
After beginning the 2019 season in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, Bibens-Dirkx resurfaced in affiliated ball last June, making eight starts for the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate at Nashville. He was expected to report back to Triple-A to begin 2020, but with the COVID-19 pandemic putting the minor-league season at risk, Texas elected to move on from the 35-year-old instead.

Rangers' Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Back with Rangers
Bibens-Dirkx has signed a contract to return to the Rangers, and he will start for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday night, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Bibens-Dirkx signed a contract with the Uni-President Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League during the offseason, but he has decided to return stateside and rejoin his former club. Bibens-Dirkx started six games for the Rangers in both of the last two seasons, so he should garner consideration if the club decides to add a starter from the minor-league ranks.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Heading overseas
Bibens-Dirkx (knee) has signed a contract with the Uni-President Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan, Joey Hayden of the Dallas Morning Star reports.
Bibens-Dirkx confirmed the signing on his Instagram account, along with the news that he and his wife are expecting a child. He underwent offseason knee surgery, but that has not impacted his offseason throwing program -- he's posted a few videos of him throwing to his Instagram page. The 33-year-old right-hander spent more than a decade in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut for the Rangers in 2017. In 52 appearances (12 starts) with Texas, Bibens-Dirkx went 7-5 with a 5.27 ERA over 114.1 innings.

Bibens-Dirkx was outrighted from the Rangers' 40-man roster Friday and is expected to elect free agency.

The 33-year-old has thrown 41 innings for the Rangers this season, making six starts and four relief appearances. He hasn't had much success, posting a 6.59 ERA. While he doesn't walk many batters (5.9 percent), he also doesn't strike out enough (16.1 percent) or keep the ball on the ground (64.1 percent groundball rate). He'll likely be a low-leverage reliever for the Rangers down the stretch.

The Rangers optioned Bibens-Dirkx to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
His demotion opens a spot on the active roster for Drew Hutchison, who was signed by the Rangers ahead of a scheduled start Sunday against the Orioles. Bibens-Dirkx made four appearances out of the bullpen during his latest stint with the Rangers, surrendering 16 earned runs and 17 hits and two walks over seven frames.

Filling in as the Rangers wait for Martin Perez (elbow) to return from the disabled list, Bibens-Dirkx was impressive in this contest, blanking the Tigers (albeit in a short outing) and nabbing his second victory of the season. His 3.71 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over his 34 innings this season are serviceable, but with Perez set to return soon, the 33-year-old figures to be the one to vacate his rotation spot.

Rangers' Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Grinds in Tuesday's loss
Bibens-Dirkx (1-2) allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Astros.
The Astros touched Bibens-Dirkx for a pair of home runs and five early runs, running his pitch count to 81 after just three innings. It didn't look like he was going to give Texas much length, but the 33-year-old right-hander was better after the third inning and lasted three more innings and 114 pitches. The journeyman starter will get at least one more start in the majors, Sunday on the road against Detroit. After that, Martin Perez (elbow) should be ready to return, and the Rangers will need to clear out a spot in the rotation.

Bibens-Dirkx struck out six in five scoreless innings Tuesday against the Padres, allowing two hits and four walks in a no-decision.
Making his fourth start of the year, Bibens-Dirkx threw his second consecutive start allowing one run or less. The 33-year-old has a 3.57 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 17:6 K:BB in 22.2 innings. His next scheduled start is a matchup with the Astros at home.

Bibens-Dirkx (1-1) allowed one run on five hits and a walk through 6.2 innings in a win Wednesday over the Royals.
Bibens-Dirkx gave up a lofty 12 flyballs but still managed to keep the ball in the ballpark as the Royals mustered just two extra-base hits against him. That will be the main thing to watch with Bibens-Dirkx, as his 4.67 ERA in 24 games (six starts) in 2017 can largely be pinned on a brutal 1.8 HR/9. All the Rangers really need right now, though, is somebody who can eat innings, and Bibens-Dirkx most likely did enough to hold onto the rotation spot for at least another turn. If so, his next start will come Tuesday against San Diego.

Bibens-Dirkx was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Royals.
Bibens-Dirkx is set to rejoin the big-league rotation in place of Yohander Mendez, who was banished to the minors after violating team rules. The 33-year-old has made two starts for the Rangers this season, allowing a brutal 10 runs (eight earned) on 17 hits in just 11 innings of work. Rangers' Austin Bibens-Dirkx: Roughed up early in no-decision
Bibens-Dirkx allowed four runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Mariners. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter.
The Rangers handed Bibens-Dirkx an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but he immediately gave that back and more, as the first four Mariners reached base safely. He had to deal with baserunners during every inning he pitched. This was his second start during this callup, and likely last for now, as Matt Moore (knee) will return to start Wednesday. Moore, who has an 8.19 ERA over nine starts and averaged less than five innings per start, may be pitching for his spot in the rotation Wednesday. In the event he continues to struggle and manager Jeff Banister wants to make a move, Bibens-Dirkx could be back.
