Mariners' Asher Wojciechowski: Back with Seattle for '22
Wojciechowski re-signed Feb. 8 with the Mariners on a minor-league contract.
After finishing the 2021 season at Triple-A Tacoma within the Mariners organization, Wojciechowski elected free agency in November. He ultimately decided a return to Seattle was his best option, and while his new deal likely includes an invitation to big-league camp, he's probably not a serious threat for the Mariners' Opening Day rotation. The 33-year-old right-hander has spent parts of five seasons in the majors from 2015 through 2021, logging a lifetime 5.93 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 21.5 percent strikeout rate across 202 innings over stops with the Astros, Reds, Orioles and Yankees.... Asher Wojciechowski: Elects free agency
Wojciechowski elected free agency Saturday instead of accepting an outright assignment to the Yankees' minor-league system.
Wojciechowski's contract was selected Wednesday ahead of his first start of the year. He was designated for assignment the next day after a passable performance in which he held the Phillies to two runs in four innings. He'll now be able to have his pick of future employers, though he may have a tough time finding a major-league contract considering that no team claimed him off waivers.... See More ... See Less

The righty went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment Thursday. Wojciechowski made his season debut against the Phillies on Wednesday and allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four in four innings. Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Works four innings
Wojciechowski allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four across four innings Wednesday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.
Wojciechowski had his contract selected before the start and made his season debut for the Yankees. He allowed a leadoff home run to Jean Segura but largely managed to work around trouble to keep the Yankees in the game. It remains unclear if he'll get another turn through the rotation, though the team has very few options at starting pitcher with Nestor Cortes (COVID-19) and several others currently sidelined. Prior to this outing, Wojciechowski had managed a 5.68 ERA and 1.60 WHP across 12.2 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.... See More ... See Less
Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Called up ahead of start
The Yankees selected Wojciechowski's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Phillies.
New York outrighted infielder Hoy Jun Park off the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to clear room for Wojciechowski, who will be making his team debut. The journeyman right-hander will slot into the big-league rotation after posting a 5.68 ERA and 1.60 WHIP while striking out 17 over 12.2 innings at Triple-A this season.... See More ... See Less
Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Starting Wednesday
Wojciechowski will be called up to start Wednesday against the Phillies, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
Wojciechowski's career 5.95 ERA in 198 innings at the big-league level isn't particularly inspiring. He's struck out just 21.5 percent of opposing batters while generating a very low 28.9 percent groundball rate. He hasn't shown any signs of encouragement in a small sample of 12.2 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, struggling to a 5.68 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.... See More ... See Less
Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Reinstated from injured list
Wojciechowski (lat) was reinstated from the 7-day minor-league injured list Saturday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.
Wojciechowski suffered a lat injury during spring training and hasn't yet made his 2021 debut, but he should be available for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre going forward. The right-hander made 10 appearances (seven starts) for the Orioles last year and posted a 6.81 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 37 innings.... See More ... See Less
Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Gets reassigned
The Yankees reassigned Wojciechowski (lat) to their minor-league camp Wednesday.
Wojciechowski is unlikely to make any further appearances this spring after he sustained a lat injury in his Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays, but he wasn't on track to make the Opening Day roster even if his health prevailed. Once he overcomes the lat injury, Wojciechowski will likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.... See More ... See Less

Wojciechowski exited Sunday's spring game due to a lat injury, and he hasn't appeared since. Yankees' Asher Wojciechowski: Exits with injury
Wojciechowski was removed from Sunday's spring game against the Blue Jays due to a lat injury, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Wojciechowski threw 23 pitches in relief Sunday, but he left the game with one out in the seventh inning. However, manager Aaron Boone said after the game that he's hopeful that Wojciechowski's injury is minor. The right-hander has been serving as a non-roster invitee with the Yankees this spring and has posted a 7.94 ERA and 7:2 K:BB over 5.2 innings during four relief appearances.... See More ... See Less

Wojciechowski signed with the Yankees as a non-roster invitee Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Orioles' Asher Wojciechowski: Moves to bullpen
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde announced Sept. 6 that Wojciechowski would transition into a "swing role" out of the Baltimore bullpen, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
Hyde isn't closing the door on Wojciechowski starting again, though that doesn't seem to be a likely outcome unless the Orioles' rotation is decimated by injuries. Through his seven starts, Wojciechowski posted a 5.17 ERA and 1.44 WHIP while giving up eight home runs over 31.1 innings. Since ceding his spot in the rotation to rookie Dean Kremer, Wojciechowski hasn't fared any better out of the bullpen. He's given up home runs in both of his relief appearances, including two three-run blasts to the Yankees' Luke Voit in his most recent outing Sept. 11.... See More ... See Less

Wojciechowski allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five across five innings Tuesday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.

He was otherwise solid, with the only other run he allowed coming on a solo home run. Wojciechowski has now allowed three earned runs in each of his past four starts, and he's only managed to pitch five innings in two of them. Overall, he has a 5.17 ERA with a 29:11 K:BB across 31.1 innings for the season. Wojciechowski is currently projected to take the mound Sunday against the Yankees.... See More ... See Less
