  • Rangers' Scott Carroll: Traded to Texas Wednesday

Carroll was traded to the Rangers for cash considerations Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Carroll had been outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday and will now pack up and join the Rangers. Carroll, a former third-round pick, hasn't been able to find his game in Triple-A this season, going 2-8 with a 5.55 ERA through 60 innings of work in a combined role both as a reliever and starter. The 31-year-old also gave up three earned runs in three appearances out of the White Sox's bullpen this season. He will likely play out the season as minor league depth.

  • White Sox's Scott Carroll: Gets outrighted Thursday

Carroll was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Carroll will be removed from the 40-man roster, allowing the White Sox to add an additional arm in the rotation or bullpen. After a 2015 season where the right-hander produced a 3.44 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 36.2 innings for the White Sox, the 31-year-old has regressed in 2016, spending the majority of the season with Triple-A Charlotte and logging a 5.27 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 56.1 frames.

  • White Sox's Scott Carroll: Optioned to Triple-A on Thursday

Carroll was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

The White Sox made a move to acquire Anthony Ranaudo from the Rangers, and they decided that both he and Carroll were more suited for Triple-A at the moment. Carroll has struggled both in the majors and the minor this season, so it'll be tough to get another callup until he gets things sorted out.

  • White Sox's Scott Carroll: Recalled from Triple-A on Friday

Carroll was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

The White Sox sent Erik Johnson down to Triple-A following his previous start, leaving a hole in the Chicago pitching staff. Despite having fairly bad numbers with Triple-A Charlotte, Carroll got promoted to the big leagues. The right-hander has experience pitching out of the rotation and the bullpen, so he could act in either role for the White Sox depending on what their current needs are.

  • White Sox's Scott Carroll: Optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday

Carroll was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Carroll was vying for a role as a long reliever in the White Sox bullpen, but since he had minor league options left, the White Sox will send him down to Triple-A to begin the season. That being said, he could shuttle between the minors and majors if he has success against minor league hitters.

  • White Sox's Scott Carroll: On roster bubble?

Carroll has allowed four runs over his three appearances this spring in his quest for a bullpen role.

All three of those appearances were for an inning or longer, and he could be the team's second option for a long-man in the bullpen should Jacob Turner disappoint. Carroll still has minor league options, so he could shuttle between Triple-A Charlotte and Chicago for much of the season.
