Pepiot could either work in bulk relief behind Lance Lynn or get the start himself as the best-of-five National League Division Series shifts from Dodger Stadium to Chase Field. Pepiot came away with a no-decision during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six relief innings in a 4-1 loss to the Rockies. He struck out nine.
The rookie right-hander didn't flinch during his first career outing in Coors Field after watching opener Caleb Ferguson cough up three runs while recording only two outs in the first inning. Pepiot retired Sean Bouchard to end the frame, then cruised to what would have qualified as a quality start had he begun the game. The nine strikeouts were also a career high, as the 26-year-old recorded 19 swinging strikes on 95 pitches. Pepiot has been brilliant in September, recording a 2.16 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 21:2 K:BB through 25 innings over four appearances (two starts and two bulk relief outings), and he could see action one more time before the end of the regular season, on the road Oct. 1 in San Francisco.

Pepiot had allowed just two runs across his first 21 innings this season. That changed Wednesday when he allowed a solo home run to Juan Soto and a three-run blast to Luis Campusano. Despite the mediocre start, Pepiot is at a 2.00 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB through 27 innings over five appearances (three starts). The right-hander hasn't looked out of place in the majors, and he should be penciled in for a home start versus the Tigers next week.

Though Thursday's outing was his best yet this season, Pepiot has been impressive on the whole over his four appearances with the Dodgers, going 2-0 with an 0.86 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB in 21 innings. Given the sterling ratios he's provided to date along with the fact that he'll be supported by a potent Dodgers offense, Pepiot makes for a worthy pickup in most formats now that he should be in store for a regular spot in the rotation.

After posting a 6.7 BB/9 in his first stint in the big-leagues last year, Pepiot has issued just two walks in 21 innings this season with a sterling 0.86 ERA and minuscule 0.52 WHIP. The rookie is currently scheduled for a home matchup against the Padres early next week.
