Top Tacko Fall News

  • Tacko Fall: Almost logs double-double

Fall logged nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 FT), 11 rebounds, one steal and one block across 25 minutes during a 98-86 loss Saturday against the Maine Celtics.

Fall logged his G League return Saturday. He was one point away from a double-double and could consistently record double digits across two statistical categories while being the Charge's starting center.

  • Tacko Fall: Back in G League

Fall signed with the G League's Canton Charge on Wednesday, Sam Amico of FortyEightMinutes.com reports.

Fall was waived by the Cavaliers on Sunday, but he'll return to the club's G League affiliate after going unclaimed on waivers. He made four appearances during the G League showcase this year and averaged 23.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in 28.4 minutes per game.

  • Tacko Fall: Dropped by Cleveland

The Cavaliers waived Fall on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

With the likes of Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Ed Davis all representing more traditional centers and Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen on hand as floor-stretching options at the five, the Cavaliers didn't have much of a need to keep the 7-foot-6 Fall around as a depth piece. He appeared in just 11 games for the NBA team this season, averaging 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 5.4 minutes. With the losses of Collin Sexton (knee) and Ricky Rubio (knee) testing its depth in the backcourt, Cleveland will cut Fall loose and hand his two-way spot to a guard (Brandon Goodwin).

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Not starting Sunday

Fall isn't starting Sunday's game against the Raptors.

Fall joined the starting lineup for Wednesday's loss to the Cavaliers and totaled four points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes. Kevin Love will make his first start of the season Sunday.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Grabs 10 rebounds

Fall amassed four points (2-5 FG), 10 rebounds and two blocks over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 111-101 loss to the Celtics.

Fall logged double-digit minutes for the first time this season, recording a plus-minus of minus-6 during his time on the floor. Fall had been working with trainer Drew Hanlen on his offensive game, but it hasn't translated onto the NBA court yet. The fan-favorite won't play again until Sunday -- when the Cavaliers might regain Evan Mobley or Jarrett Allen (COVID-19 protocols).

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Making first career start

Fall will make his first career start Wednesday against the Celtics, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The shorthanded Cavaliers will turn to Fall -- one of the few true centers available. His career high for minutes played is 19, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a full workload from Fall. Still, he can fill up the stat sheet. Per 36 minutes for his career, he's averaged 13.9 points, 13.4 rebounds and 4.8 blocks.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Posts double-double against Cruise

Fall posted 26 points (11-16 FG, 2-5 FT), 10 rebounds, five blocks and two assists in 29 minutes during Friday's G League loss to Motor City.

Fall made his first G League appearance since Nov. 28 during Friday's defeat, but he was quite productive as a member of the starting five. He finished second on the team in scoring and has now logged double-doubles in each of his first four G League appearances of the season.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Dominant in 2OT win

Fall generated 22 points (7-11 FG, 5-5 FT), 17 rebounds and three blocks in Sunday's double-overtime G League win over the Skyforce.

Fall has been a consistent contributor for the Charge during his time in the G League, and he's scored at least 22 points in each of his three appearances while posting three consecutive double-doubles. He's now averaging 22.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in 28.1 points per game with the G League club.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Strong performance in win

Fall posted 22 points (10-10 FG, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, a steal and a block in 29 minutes during Saturday's G League win over the Skyforce.

Fall made just his second G League appearance of the season Saturday, and he was perfect from the floor in the narrow win. The center averaged just 2.7 minutes per game with the parent club early in the year, but he should see more playing time in the G League.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Paces Charge on scoreboard

Fall posted 23 points (10-13 FG, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds and three blocks in 29 minutes during Thursday's G League win over Windy City.

Fall had minimal playing time with the Cavaliers to begin the 2021-22 campaign, but he made a significant impact during his season debut with the Charge. The 7-5 center will likely be shuffled between the G League and the parent club this year as one of the franchise's two-way players.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Signs two-way contract

Fall signed a two-way contract with the Cavaliers on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Fall signed with Cleveland in late August and spent some time away from the team in early October due to a visa issue. The 25-year-old should be shuffled between the Cleveland Charge and the parent club during the 2021-22 campaign.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Back with team

Fall has rejoined the Cavaliers following an issue with his visa, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.

Fall was unable to travel with the team for Tuesday's game at Chicago, but he's back with the Cavs in Atlanta and figures to make his preseason debut within the next several days.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Currently away from team

Fall did not travel with the Cavaliers for Tuesday's preseason game against Chicago, Evan Dammarell of Locked On Cavs reports.

The reason for Fall's absence is unclear, but he will not play Tuesday and will likely miss Wednesday's preseason game at Atlanta, as well. The big man signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Cavs in August, so missing the first two preseason games won't help his chances to make the final roster.

  • Cavaliers' Tacko Fall: Signs deal with Cleveland

Fall signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the Cavaliers on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The 7-foot-5 center has played just 169 NBA minutes in his first two seasons, totaling 47 points, 52 rebounds, 20 blocks, three assists and one steal. If he manages to make the Cavs' roster, he won't be an every-game player.

  • Celtics' Tacko Fall: Swats four shots in limited run

Fall tallied two points (1-1 FG), four blocks and three rebounds in five minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Celtics' 132-96 win over the Magic.

Fall has shown the ability to consistently put up numbers when he takes the court, but his limited mobility makes it difficult for head coach Brad Stevens to trust him for extended stretches. The 7-foot-5 center was summoned from the bench until garbage time, and so long as the Celtics have at least two of Robert Williams, Tristan Thompson and Luke Kornet available in a given game, Fall is unlikely to be included in the rotation.

  • Celtics' Tacko Fall: Five straight DNPs

Fall is averaging 6.0 minutes, 1.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in three games played in the month of April.

Fall has only played in three games and attempted two shots since March 27. The Celtics acquired two centers -- Luke Kornet and Moritz Wagner -- at the trade deadline and both appear to be firmly ahead of Fall on the depth chart. The Celtics' starting center, Robert Williams, missed Thursday's game with a knee injury, and Fall still recorded his fifth straight DNP.

  • Celtics' Tacko Fall: Three appearances in March

Fall is averaging 6.8 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 blocks in four games played since the All-Star break.

Fall has only eclipsed double-digit minutes in one game this year (Jan. 15 vs. Magic). However, the 25-year-old has at least gotten more run during the few times he's seen the court, as he's averaged almost double the amount of minutes in his sophomore season (7.6) than he did during his rookie year (4.7). The seven-footer has shot 70 percent from the field during his career, but his abysmal free-throw shooting (30 percent) makes him an offensive liability.
