  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Productive off bench

Queta contributed 13 points (3-5 FG, 7-10 FT), six rebounds, one block and one steal across 20 minutes during Friday's 125-111 win over Chicago.

The majority of Queta's points came from the charity stripe, and his seven made free throws were his most in a regular-season game since March 1 against the 76ers. He played one more minute than starting center Mitchell Robinson, although Queta got some extra run in the fourth quarter due to the Celtics' large lead. Queta was Boston's starting center in 2025-26, but the sixth-year pro has acclimated to his rotational role to allow Robinson to work more with the starters.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Quickly fouls out

Queta provided seven points (3-3 FG, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 15 minutes before fouling out of Tuesday's 125-124 overtime win over Brooklyn.

Queta made all three of his field-goal attempts but was limited by foul trouble, picking up six fouls in just 15 minutes. Mitchell Robinson started at center and logged 25 minutes, while Queta played a reserve role. The combination of limited playing time and competition in Boston's frontcourt makes Queta difficult to trust in most fantasy formats.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Impressive off bench

Queta closed with 15 points (4-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-9 FT), six rebounds, one assist and three blocks over 22 minutes during Friday's 107-103 victory over New York.

While Queta came off the bench, he soundly outproduced starter Mitchell Robinson on both sides of the floor. The two big men took on identical workloads Friday, and the Celtics figure to evaluate the center position on a game-by-game basis while Queta and Robinson continue to compete for a larger chunk of minutes.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Blocks two shots in reserve role

Queta amassed three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal over 22 minutes during Tuesday's 121-113 loss to the Pistons.

Queta played more minutes than starting center Mitchell Robinson, who logged 18 but struggled to make an impact offensively and committed four fouls. The two blocks and a steal helped salvage his fantasy production, and his playing time suggests Boston could continue splitting center minutes between Queta and Robinson. However, the timeshare may limit Queta's rebounding and scoring opportunities.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Coming off bench

Queta will come off the bench for Tuesday's season opener against Detroit, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Mitchell Robinson has officially won the starting job at center, though this position battle will be one to watch. Given Robinson's durability concerns, this could become a timeshare at the center spot.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Expected to suit up Tuesday

Queta (rest) is expected to play in Tuesday's game against the Pistons.

Queta didn't play in Friday's 125-120 preseason overtime win over Philadelphia. However, he is slated to suit up for Tuesday's meeting with Detroit. The 27-year-old is coming off a quality 2025-26 campaign, averaging 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks, all career highs, over 25.3 minutes per outing in 76 regular-season games. Queta could be in line for an even better year, especially if he maintains his spot in the starting lineup over Mitchell Robinson.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Out for Friday's preseason finale

Queta will not participate in Friday's preseason finale against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Most of Boston's regulars are getting the night off. Queta is expected to be ready for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Pistons.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Provides spark off bench

Queta supplied 16 points (7-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound and one assist across 24 minutes in Wednesday's 114-93 preseason victory over Charlotte.

Queta provided Boston with an offensive lift off the bench, finishing several plays around the rim and throwing down a driving dunk in the fourth quarter. However, his lone rebound was a notable shortcoming, particularly with Mitchell Robinson collecting seven boards and three blocks in the starting lineup. Queta figures to compete with Robinson and Luka Garza for frontcourt opportunities.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Available Saturday

Queta (rest) is available for Saturday's game against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Queta didn't play against the Cavaliers on Thursday, but there's no indication that he won't be available for Saturday's game. Mitchell Robinson (rest) is starting at center, so Queta will come off the bench against Philadelphia.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Not in line to play

Queta (rest) isn't in line to play Thursday against Cleveland, Zack Cox of the Boston Herald reports.

Boston seems to be holding out their expected starters for this exhibition. Luka Garza is getting a chance to start at center for the Celtics on Thursday.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Continuing offensive development

Queta has looked much improved on the offensive end to open camp, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports.

Coach Joe Mazzulla has been impressed by the strides that the big man has taken over the summer, noting that Queta has looked comfortable on the offensive end. "Just making plays. Whether he's in the seam, catching it in the paint versus a small, or just when he has the ball in his hands, something happening and not just getting rid of it because we want something else to go to," said Mazzulla. "So I think just the comfort level of when he has the ball in his hands, making the right play. That's something that I've seen him work on, something we worked on together in Portugal, and something that he's been confident in." Queta has a major opportunity in front of him, as he's in a battle with Mitchell Robinson for the starting job at center with the 2026-27 season looming.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Overcomes injury scare

Queta (ankle) registered 20 points (8-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and four blocks in 30 minutes during Portugal's 98-90 loss to Georgia in Monday's FIBA World Cup qualifier.

Queta turned his ankle and couldn't finish Friday's exhibition against Spain, so his presence on the floor Monday was encouraging. The big man, who's lined up to share Boston's center minutes with Mitchell Robinson in 2026-27, should be a full participant for training camp with the Celtics later this fall.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Effective for Portugal

Queta recorded 16 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and two steals in 25 minutes during Portugal's 95-89 win over Spain in Friday's FIBA World Cup qualifier.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 campaign for Boston, averaging 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while starting 75 of his 76 regular-season appearances, earning a four-year, $56 million contract this offseason. The addition of Mitchell Robinson creates competition at center, but Queta should remain a significant part of Boston's rotation and could retain the starting job.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Could take offensive leap in 2026-27

Queta could take an offensive leap in the 2026-27 campaign after averaging a career-high 10.2 points over 76 regular-season games last season, Jack Simone of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

With Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford out of the picture, Queta was a regular in the starting five last season. The big man averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in 25.3 minutes per regular-season tilt. While he averaged a career-high mark in scoring and took a significant jump on the defensive end, there's still plenty of room for Queta to improve offensively. Jaylen Brown was traded to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George this offseason, so there should be more shot attempts up for grabs. Additionally, Jayson Tatum is expected to start the season at full health after missing most of the 2025-26 regular season while recovering from a torn Achilles. Tatum's ability to get his teammates involved could be key to unlocking Queta's full offensive potential. The Celtics also lost Nikola Vucevic to free agency while landing Mitchell Robinson, who represents an upgrade defensively but a downgrade on the offensive end. Queta figures to handle a starting role once again and will look to grow his offensive game while providing Boston with efficient scoring around the rim.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Agrees to 4-year extension

Queta and the Celtics agreed to a four-year, $56 million extension Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The Celtics recently picked up Queta's team option for 2026-27, but the team quickly moved to lock him up for another four years through 2030-31. Queta averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in 25.3 minutes per game across 76 regular-season outings (75 starts) last season, but he does have some extra competition for next season with the Celtics adding Mitchell Robinson up front.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Team option picked up

The Celtics picked up Queta's team option Monday, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.

This is an expected move for Boston after Queta put together a solid campaign as their starting center. He produced averages of 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in 25.3 minutes per game across 76 outings (75 starts). Depending on what the Celtics do in free agency, Queta could again be in line for a big role in the frontcourt.
